Does this quote for a patio cover seem right?

I've got a 12 x 20 patio slab that I would like to cover. Got a quote today that looked like this:
“Shed” roof attached under shingles. Roof to be shingled to match existing.
Brick Decking
Painted Plywood Ceilings
Soffit and Fascia to match existing
6 Can Lights and Electrical Hookup
All lumber, materials,
2 Coats Paint/Stain
The quote came in at $35,000. Seems a bit high to me, am I off base?

It's $145 per sq ft for a patio cover. You do the math.

That's not terribly high. $25-30k would be more reasonable, but there is a lot of work out there right now.
If you know what you are doing hire each trade separately and you can probably get it down to $12-15k. If you really know what you're doing you can do it yourself with a couple friends from your local the Home Depot parking lot for maybe $9k.
Another strategy is to post the job on craigslist without your address. Provide as many details as possible and see who responds. Require references and check them before you let them look at the job. You can usually tell who actually knows what they are talking about and someone who doesn't.
Never pay anyone anything in advance. Try to buy the materials yourself.

Slab, brick work, carpentry work, tie into existbg roof, finish work, electrical, plenty of materials...
That price really isn't that out of line for complete turnkey.
Depending on where you live, don't firger stamped drawings and permit fees.

I think that's awfully high. Materials probably only cost around $10,000 - $15,000.

I got a quote to get a slab about the same size poured with just the basics of the cover built (I would do the finishing myself) and it was about $8K. You have a lot more work listed there.

I just did my 10 x 30 to match my custom home. 12x12 solid wood columns, slate tile floor, one side is rock wall with windows, 4 ceiling fans with lights. Shingle roof meshed into house(can't tell it was an addition at all) overhangs match the house, hardiboard ceiling- painted to match overhangs

Amazes me what people quote for small jobs like that. I guess their success rate getting suckers to pay offsets the ones who laugh at their quote. Could not see material being more than $5000 for that job....anywhere in the country.
