I'm looking for something like Xbox Music where you pay a small monthly fee and can "download" all the music you want as long as you're a subscriber...and by download I mean on their platform, obviously they won't allow you to download onto hard-drives or anything...I'm not into streaming services like pandora where you don't have control over the music being played.

How does that work? I honestly have no clue, I still buy songs from iTunes but somebody recently made fun of me for that

The 2 best are Google Play Music All Access and Spotify. You can't go wrong with either, but I prefer All Access (mainly because I got in on it when it was $8/month instead of $10.

Also, if you are a student, Spotify has a discount. Not sure if Google does that. I don't think so.

This is another ignorant question, but what devices can you access google play music all access? Phones with android are a given obviously, but are there stand alone music players out there?

If you are a student, you can get Spotify for 4.99/month.

I found that Spotify had more music choices than Google's version when I tried it out. I haven't checked on Googles in a while but Spotify has like everything except T Swift and Garth Brooks

When you cancel the service, you lose all your music correct?

I've subscribed to Rdio, Spotify, Google All Access and Deezer. Also subscribed briefly to a French company that did FLAC streaming and a couple others I can't recall right now.

Keep coming back to Spotify. Has the best app and interface IMO, and if it doesn't have the biggest library, I haven't been able to tell (a couple had noticeably less).

Google has 30 million songs

Spotify 20

Spotify is also in a huge battle with some of the biggest artists and record companies in music. Taylor Swift, Brantley Gilbert, Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, and more.

I like Google and would have preferred to switch, but I just couldn't get past the interface, initial lack of desktop apps and some other things.

The Google Play integration with YouTube Music Key is enticing, but I've had no issues with Spotify.

I have spotify and am happy with it although it doesn't have any of The Silver Jews stuff. And It lacks a lot of avant garde jazz I try to find. But other than that it works great. I'll have to check out the google thing since I'm droided up with phones and fire TVs.
