umm... many of the moves today are still real.
you can't fake diving off a turnbuckle into a table.
that doesnt change that its always been "fake" so far as being a legit sport goes.
so yea, its always been a goof.

I think its a sport. The guys are definitely athletes. On a side note, when I was a kid, you couldn't make me believe wrestling was fake. The Von Erich vs Freebird matches were as real as it gets to a 12 y/o. In my opinion, WCCW and Mid-South were the best in the 80's. I don't care for it now but to each their own.

My best friend and I almost came to blows when we were about eight or nine years old over whether or not the WWF was real? Dumbass would probably still claim it's real as he never admitted he was wrong.

There are hundreds other wrestling promotions in the world and not a single other uses the word "entertainment" or "sports entertainment." Most actually embrace the wrestling roots and focus on the actual wrestling and less on, well...
