So I just started this show and WTF.... It's a clone of The Office. Even has the one of the same actresses. I've never seen a show simply knockoff another show and be somewhat successful.

Season 1 was like that

Once season 2 starts Parks and Rec is much different than the office. And much better too

I'm just not a fan. I only watched when it was right before/after the office, but I really only liked one character.

The office was a great great show.

Parks and Recreation kicks its arse. No question about it.

Season 2 is where it really became it's own thing. If you can watch season 2 ep. one about a penguin wedding and still don't like it, then it's not for you.

I never watched the first season, started with Season 2 and have loved it ever since. About to start the finale shortly.

The first 2-3 seasons of The Office was better than Parks and Rec. than office went downhill, whereas Parks got better and better. But the best seasons of office is better than the best of parks.

I tried Parks when it started because of Amy P, but it sucked.

Then I read a Slate article that said they had retooled and improved it for Season Two so that it was worth another look. I checked it again, with skepticism. They were correct. I have watched it ever since.

It is/was a good show, but I thought The Office was overall way better.

The finale was well done.

I go back and forth on which show I like more, but Parks and Rec is not a clone of The Office. I enjoy that Leslie is actually good at her job and works hard. Sometimes, watching the office babysit Michael gets old.

It started as a spin off before they made it its own show in its own TV universe. It was created by Greg Daniels (who developed the US version of The Office) and Michael Schur (who was a producer, writer, and played Mose on The Office)

parks and rec, while being an incredible show, never reached the highs of the office. that isn't a knock against parks because at its heights, the office was arguably the greatest sitcom of the past 15 years, but parks and rec never reached the lows the office eventually did. it was a more consistent show

Yup. If I had to rank my favorite seasons of the shows, The Office would probably take 5 of the top 6 spots. But The Office would also have a lot of the bottom locked up.

After the first season the two shows couldn't be any more different.

I started watching in the first season and freaking hated it. Then I quit for a few years and picked it back up. At this point, I have seen every episode and the first season was by far the weakest. The cast even said that on Seth Meyers show tonight. Someone made the comment that they are lucky they got picked up for a second season because a lot of people thought that it was too much like the Office.

Just skip to Season 2.

I just started watching also because I caught a few episodes during a P&R marathon. It does seem to be structured a lot like the Office but I like it. I'm going to start from the beginning on Netflix and try and watch them all.
