Purchased a new phone and i'm having issues setting up my work e-mail. Any help? when I try to create it tells me it can not connect to the server.

That's not really enough info to be helpful, and you'll probably need to talk to your work folks- many answers that are needed could give away your identity. But as far as reasons you can't connect to the server: They could be preventing your mobile device from connecting, you could be using the wrong port or encryption type, you may have typed the server name/address in wrong, you may have incorrectly put your username or password in.

Need to know what your work uses. Is it an Exchange based email. Does it use Gmail? How to you access your email while at work?

i had to say 'accept all certificates' or something like that to get ours working.

your MIS dept should be able to guide you through this.

well it is a parish wide e-mail, it has @thisparish.com as the ending prompt. It does link through GMAIL as I had it on my iPhone.
when I try to do it through GMAIL now and create a new account it tells me I can not connect to network. I went into my work e-mail setting, looked at the PORT Number, Certification, etc and added it to my phone but it still told me it can not connect.
Right now I have it set up to forward e-mails but I only received 1 of 7 today so that is not working for me.

Tech support is one guy, he doesn't know and attempted to Google it with no luck

I used Touchdown a paid App- and not the stock email androids offer

You need to know the server name, domain name etc

You will need to get this from your IT dept

One possibility... try a different email app, like CloudMagic, Mailwise, Blue Mail or myMail. I remember a couple of these being a little easier to setup... almost automatic once they know email & password, at least for IMAP type email accounts. Not sure how setup would go with Exchange or if there's any complications due to security settings (but if you just have one overwhelmed IT guy, compliance is probably not too rigorous).

If you still have issues, these apps are popular and well updated so that if you contact the app developer, I think you'll get a somewhat timely response from them offering to help.

Do you still have the old phone? That way you can copy the server name, username etc and input it.

When you put in username did you put : domain\username?

And at my job: our domain, exchange server name, and after username@ is different

The exchange server name that you use on your desktop pc is different than what you use to input on your phone for the exchange server.

example:
If you're connecting to an Exchange mailbox, your Exchange ActiveSync server name is contained in the address bar in your browser when you are signed in to Outlook Web App, but without the leading https:// and without the trailing /owa. For example, if the address you use to access Outlook Web App is LINK , your Exchange ActiveSync server name is mail.contoso.com.

I have my work and 2 personal emails setup and never had any issues

Wait... Your place of employment allows email to filter through gmail?

Please tell me this is just an email address to work side deals and secret handshakes off the record and isn't official parish government business.

Not sure if it is different, I know when I pull it up on my phone it automatically plugs in exchange name of "insertparish" and I need to change certificates/port number to match. So I brought my old phone today and sure enough the exchange name is the same but it still will not allow it.
The IT guy today told me it is a Parish wide thing where phone with android do not support the e-mail program we use. This makes 0 sense to me as it should be able to link rather than just forward.

How much do they pay this IT guy, lol.

What phone do you have now? And your job definitely uses Microsoft Exchange?

Maybe you have, I would delete the account that you tried to add/fix and start from scratch.

Switched from a iPhone 5 to Galaxy S5, we do have the exchange, this is what I see if I click on my work mail app on my old phone and click the setting button

Careful you do not give your workplace too many permissions/access to your personal device. That is the #1 reason I do not have work email on MY phone. If they want me that bad, give me a work device. That and defence attorneys wanted to subpoena a phone used "on the job" for any reason.
