I've tried browsing the different brands on Amazon, but it gets exhausting analyzing all those reviews, especially when half those people are either retarded or paid to review, so I come to you, Tech Board. And sorry if this topic gets brought up too often, but didn't see much on the first two pages.

I want a good fitness tracker, but I've already got a wristwatch and I'm not going to wear two different gadgets, so I'd like something that can just replace my normal watch and add "smart" features. *FYI - I have a Galaxy Note 3, if that makes a huge difference for syncing purposes*

Here's my must-have features:
- GREAT battery life. Not decent battery life. I don't want to be charging my watch every damn day
- Good fitness tracking: steps, calories, and preferably heart rate
- Music control - If it's going to be my fitness accessory it should be able to play my music to my bluetooth earphones so I don't have to carry my phone with me while exercising
- Time and weather - I know most have this, but this rules out some of the cheaper FitBits and Jawbones
- Style - Must look decent/normal enough to also wear to work without looking like an idiot or being incredibly bulky/obtrusive

I don't really care about the texts/phone calls/notifications features. Maybe they'll prove useful, but I'm not looking to spend extra for those features alone.

So any input from people that have experience with different brands would be great. I'm also curious if smart watches are even worth it yet? Are they still buggy and gimmicky? Will there be a next-gen anytime soon that makes the current crop obsolete? TIA

Best advice based on your criteria is to wait until the technology develops a little more. Most have to be charged daily, and I am not aware of any that are considered a smartwatch that don't require a phone.

I have a moto 360 and love it, it does a pretty good job of measuring steps, but not as good on the heart rate tracking.

this is what I've come to realize after just researching smart watches after seeing this thread. realized there's nothing out right now that does exactly what I want. although the microsoft band seems to come closest and I may just buy it. love that it comes with gps, has a heart rate monitor, and cortana is integrated into it. wish the heart rate monitor was more accurate and that it integrated more with playing music. of course those could possibly be fixed with an update. so like I said, I may go ahead and buy one

The only wearable that comes close to fitting your criteria is the Fitbit Surge. It is a bit bulky, and I am not sure about getting weather on it but it does have HR monitoring, GPS, music controls and a few days battery life. (using on board Gps will cut this to a few hours) They also have them in retail stores like Walmart / Target so you can put eyes on it before buying

That's kind of what I figured. I might just get a cheap fitness tracker for now until the big brands have time to tinker and improve

I just mean I'd like to leave my phone in the locker at the gym, or just not have to have it in my pocket while working out. So a watch that I can use to scroll thru a playlist real quick would be handy

I love my moto 360. My only complaint is the battery life, although it's not a huge deal since It will last a full day no problem.
