Jesus Christ, that has no relevancy to what we are arguing about.

You listed a build and we are talking about it. Don't get mad because I don't agree with you.

How can you disagree that consoles are far more cost effective than PCs?

Because console games still cost $60.

I can't remember the last time I paid $60 for a PC game even on release day.

I'm not getting mad, you just try and poke your head into every single conversation on this board without reading any context.

He said consoles are more value efficient than PCs, which is entirely false, and I was proving that he was false.

There was no arguing over which was better and which he should choose.

In gardoki's defense, you weren't comparing apples to apples.

Consoles have an OS loaded. You can't compare the initial cost of a pc if you're only counting hardware.

Then put Linux and steamOS on it. That's a stupid and invalid excuse.

Eh, I don't think that's the solution just to fit it into the "PC gaming is just as cheap" argument. You lose out on a shite ton of games (Steam's Linux content is still less than 20% of its Windows content. People like to cite all the games available on Linux, but more important are the triple A titles you'll miss out on, and that's an extremely relevant subject when trying to compare consoles to the superiority of PC.

Truth be told, it is a little more expensive to game on a PC if you do things the "standard" way -- like buy all of your parts new and don't pirate Windows. But I'm only trying to make the point that you don't need to exclude the cost of Windows to make the argument that PCs are a far better value.

You can absolutely get more for your money -- better graphics, higher resolution and frame rates, more input options (a variety of controllers with different layouts, M+KB, keypads, etc.), far more non-gaming capabilities, modding, more exclusive titles (if you care about them) modular design for easy and endless (but optional) upgrades, and the discounts on PC games more than make up for the extra cash you might spend on OEM Windows. Anyone who argues against that point can't be helped. But we can still be realistic here. Unless you patiently and/or adeptly hunt for good deals on used parts (a task very unlike walking into a Walmart and purchasing a console), you're still going to spend upwards of $500 (including Windows) for a basic build to rightly shite on this generation of consoles. Obviously, as the years go by and this generation of consoles remain the same in terms of hardware, a new PC build at the above price point becomes comically more superior. But still not cheaper.

Yup. A few years after release. The cheapest PC build annihilates the console. As stated, at the end of the life cycle for the console, the bargain basement PC seems like it comes from the 25th Century.

I wasn't aware I had to ask permission to join conversations on a message board. I apologize for that. You are a statement though and I commented on that. I tied it into a common topic on this board too. I've been in this conversation from the beginning so I do know the context.

The only argument for the console is that it is easier with some exclusives and lower initial cost.

PCs also have exclusives so easier and slightly cheaper initial cost are really the only benefits of consoles. I guess ease of purchase feeds into the easier category.

I've always been a console & pc guy although the latest generation of consoles hasn't hooked me yet. Haven't seen a single game from any of the players that blew me away.

It's nice to have the option of either one. Especially since games run better on one or the other.
