Folks could send a letter with just the name and name of the town and you'd get it.

You knew who lived in each house in town.

Folks would call your parents if they saw you doing something you shouldn't be doing because they didn't only know your parents, but your grandparents and your uncles, aunts and cousins.

Credit accounts at the grocery stores....because everyone knew everyone and where to find them.

Folks coming to town by boat to shop.

I gotta say this put a smile on my face, because I didn't experience any of that and feel very lucky.

The phone numbers had no prefix. Just dial a 4 digit number for local calls. My grandparents lived out in the country and they were on a party line with three other families. That was years ago, though. The town has regular phone service now.

I experienced it and wish I could go back to those days.

Not as small as some, but bigger than others.

for the most part, everyone knew everyone.

Also had a charge account at the local gas station.

Place is booming these days. Was a small 2A school when I started school and now its a huge 3A school well on its way to 4A

Suburb of Atlanta. Wasn't really what I would call a town. Like 6 schools from the states biggest classification within about 10 minutes and some more smaller private schools.
