That's pretty normal for any major city with limited parking spaces for offices and hotels.

Hide your quarters
and leave some courtesy tissue in your trunk for when they jack off in there.

get a players card and park at harrahs for free. Just gotta play slots for 30 minutes each day and go out the garage and back in at least once every 24 hours

You can park yourself, not much cheaper.

Also, park in mid city and take the trolley in.

Very normal. I sometimes park in a garage if it is cheaper, but valet/self park at the hotel is usually about the same.

I actually was shocked when I went to the Hyatt in Houston and my valet parking was $12.

Yeah, but that's life in the city. To be honest, 43 sounds like a pretty good deal.

This part is not necessary. I parked at Harrah's this past weekend during Mardi Gras from Saturday through Tuesday. Played slots each day for 30 minutes/15 tier credits and got all 4 days comped. I think I ended up losing $20 but got a bunch of free drinks.

If you are staying in the CBD or along Canal, this is about normal.
We stayed at the Westin not long ago and I checked the prices for the lots next door to the hotel and the overnight in the lots was more than at the hotel valet.

In the Warehouse District you will have cheaper hotel parking or lots nearby you can probably park for cheaper.

$43 dollars is a tad high for new orleans, IMO

Just be careful not to be an idiot like I am.

Opted for a pay lot, mainly because the hotel we were checking into had the tiniest lobby on earth and 50 people checking in and they ran out of spots. The pay lot next door had an "overnight" rate and a "weekend" rate. The "weekend" was cheaper, so I got it. Apparently "weekend" meant weekend daytime only (I guess a certain amount of hours) because there was a boot on the car the next day.

Quite annoying when you actually PAY $24 for parking and you have to pay the same company $90-something to get the boot removed.

I've paid $48 in New Orleans

Nothing under $50 ever shocks me.

It is funny, though, because I do blind booking so I sometimes only pay $50 for a hotel. Parking is the same price as my hotel stay

eta: I'm looking online and most are from $35-$40, so $43 is definitely on the higher side. Just wouldn't blindside me or anything.
