I think there's less drinking in general. Seldom do I go on 11-12 BD binges anymore as I'm generally less miserable at work and not drinking to escape on a Tuesday night anymore (little too real, but whatever). Kim has scaled back most nights. Obviously Stink and TCO, as 4miles said, have commitments. Is rouge back in banland? shite, that's probably 20 beers there EASI

The amount of drinking has nothing to do with the proportion of posts containing info about what a poster is drinking and his/her thoughts about that beer

FBD was about beer, now it's about IM and creeping

I don't personally have an issue with a little small talk as long as it doesn't become what the OT's lunch/IM threads are.

When everyone has met, as many of us have, I think you have to expect a little of "hey, I'll be in your city tomorrow, let's meet up" type stuff. Or quick small talk and light-hearted ribbing. Especially when we're all drinking during a frustrating game or during a beer event, where we'll be inevitably making comments on it.

Now, full fledged conversation that can be taken to e-mail is different. I have no desire to read that either.

I don't think it is the amount of beer, but more the fact that we drink a lot of "repeat" beers, so there's only so much description you can give. For example, I had Hopsecutioner last night, which is probably one of the IPAs I've had the most of over my lifetime. And all of you know what it tastes like. But yes, of course I prefer reading about a beer I haven't tried.. and I look to this thread for that. I even will Google "[beer name] tigerdroppings" to find y'all's thoughts before looking at BA or RB.

Like Wise said, I truly enjoy seeing someone's beer in front of the ocean or in front of their smoker where they'll be parked cooking all day. And if someone in the thread asks how they are cooking the item or something, I don't think that should be a big deal.

Just my thoughts.

Couldn't agree more. If you are going to IM ITT at least post a beer you are drinking.

This thread is a good example, 9 pages with almost no beer drinking.

So would a 10 post 1 page thread been better ?

True, but there are also 3-4 pages discussing trading beers with each other, where to drink/buy beers in certain cities, etc. I don't see anything wrong with beer-esq talk that isn't directly "this tastes like _____"

Most of us discussing those topics were also drinking, but I can't pop a new beer every time I reply to someone
Also, a lot of posters here have formed friendships via beer. I think that is a great thing. Look at the NOLA Krewe. They're all good friends now. If it sometimes ventures from beer for a few posts, I personally just don't mind.

I do know what you mean, though. And I agree with not having 15 pages dedicated to IMing.

As for the fighting, I think everyone agrees it isn't worth it. I would like to think we are better than that. Y'all are all good people; that's why you're here and not posting in some IM thread elsewhere.

I don't think there is anything wrong with this necessarily the thread was just a LOT more interesting a couple months ago when it was predominately beer drinking. Now it is IMs with a beer here and there. It is great that a lot of you know each other but at the same time I really don't care to see many of you interact unless beer is the topic

Personally I remember the good ol' days where we just drank beer and called each other names and didn't wax poetic for two pages the next morning about how much better the thread used to be. Is this really any different? Nobody has posted a beer in PAGES.

There's going to be IMing, there's going to be beer, and as long as it's civil, is it really that big of a deal? But I'll be sure to post my tasting notes on everything from now on.

FBD

Pours a breathtaking chestnut with a cumulonimbus head. Excellent lacing. Intense bready nose, with notes of grapefruit and marzipan. Sexy minty palate, accompanied by bubblegum and sweat. Mouth-filling mouthfeel and pleasant finish. Score: 4.24/5.

should start the thread for today.

Didn't mean to say all IMing was bad. It just dominates the threads as of late, jimo.

Cliffs:

1) Wiltz called Lagunitas midtier
2) Someone that will remain nameless called him a snob
3) Wiltz responds with a lengthy posting stating posters here resent him because of the beers he drinks. We call them whales, he calls them what's locally available to him. He also takes a few personal shots at generally respected posters
4) Numerous posters tell him he needs to chill out
5) He semi-apologizes then stops posting in the FBD threads

Now jokes about resentment are commonplace -- that's their origin.

So now you know, albeit in truncated form.

Found the thread, here's the quote where shite hit the fan.

quote:

You're just being argumentative for the sake of it. We're not discussing success. You know as well as I do that Lagunitas is middle of the road, you just don't want to take the unpopular position. If forced to choose a single brewery (the original remark) for the rest of your life Lagunitas wouldn't even crack your top 10 and you know it.

This next part isn't directed specifically at you..

I get it, some of y'all resent what I drink on here. Y'all call them whales while I call them what's available locally. If y'all were here you would be unapologetically be drinking the same shite. Scarcity and hard to find doesn't mean squat to me. I'm the guy who scored Dark Lord a 3.5 and thinks that may be generous. Also the same guy that told the head brewmaster at CCB to throw Don Gavino and Gentlemens Club back In the tank and add Lacto then re-bottle it under the name Barrel Aged Dumpster Fire. I call it like I see it. I like drinking new beers, it's not a contest it's the way I roll.

FWIW, I'm inclined to believe wiltz was having a bad day and said some shite he regretted/didn't mean. I've been guilty of the same thing at times. shite happens. But we (generally) try to make nice and move on with life.

Thanks for the summary. I had to chuckle at some of his diatribe. I think he made some fair points but taking things to a personal.level is just ridicuLous.

The thought of somebody "resenting" a guy on the Internet because he has access to some different beers is pretty fumny

Worst thing he did imo was the next day was kims bday, he told him happy bday. When kim responded 'thank you' wiltz said, 'frick you, i didnt mean it'.

Punkass shite.
