I'm concerned about the amount of loft he puts on his throws, though. It looks like he's going to have interception trouble once he starts playing SEC secondaries.

Barring an injury, he won't see the field for 2 years. Minimum.

Don't get all caught up in the dual threat listing. He's more pro style. Go watch some highlights, he's nothing like Pryor.

Correct. Pryor was almost a run-first QB at the same age. Frank's has a much smoother throwing motion than Pryor at the same stage.

He is being compared to a mobile Zach Mettenberger. Think Elway..pocket passer that can get out of pocket with his feet if need be

Okay, so I knew Franks was the top dual threat in the country, according to 247, and I've been thinking about this and it has me pretty excited. Pryor was 6'4, 225 and ran a 4.4 40-yard dash out of high school (He ran a 4.33 his sophomore year at OSU). 247 has Franks listed at 6'5, 220 (I haven't found a 40 time for him, anyone know?). I'm assuming that with him being a dual threat he must have a relatively close 40 time to this. Pryor may have been an idiot later in his college career and sucks in the NFL, but he was the perfect college quarterback. Is Franks the same type of player? I haven't watched really any film on him, but his frame seems to set him up to possibly be. Obviously, for him to play like Pryor though he can't be lined up in the I-Formation 50 times a game, though.

Pryor was a better athlete. Franks already looks better as a passer than Pryor did in highschool.

the comparisons to Mett are awfull. Franks is very athletic and very mobile. Watch his highlights. He can run pretty good when he wants or needs to.

He's listed with a 4.7 40
He's more like J. Russell and R. Davey at this stage in their careers.. Pocket passer with good mobility.

I like the Rohan Davey comparisons but I think he runs way better than Rohan and has a better arm. He is the definition of a true dual threat.

Franks = Joe Flacco. Let's just hope he can develop into that.

Ace midnight, completely agree with your take. All we've needed the last 7-8 years is McCarron or Ken Dorsey. We didn't need Jameis Winston or a star. Still don't. Just give us a guy that can be consistent throwing the ball and not frick up and we will win titles.

Hopefully he runs a 6.00 40 so he has to stay in the pocket and learn how to be a QB

). Big, cannon arms,

No cannon arm in tge limited film ive seen. Slow delivery and touch passing is all ive seen. Of course, the coaching staff has seen much mord so I'll roll with that.

Franks is more in the mold of Jameis Winston (but more mature). Big, cannon arms, smart, both play pitcher for baseball, both have mobility.

I think this is dead on.

I thought the same thing of Mettenberger in the spring game in 2011 when he kept throwing up weather balloons and everybody was in awe. The very next year he was consistently overthrowing almost every deep ball by 5 yards. Then he worked with Cam for one year and he started under throwing some of them (where the guy has to stop to catch it), which was much better than the former.
Franks won't play until he is a redshirt freshman at the very earliest, however I don't think he plays til he is I'm his 3rd year. He'll learn not to put so much of an arch on his throws in the first year.
