Goran Dragic wants out of Phoenix.

According to two people with knowledge of the situation, the representatives for the Suns point guard told team officials in a Tuesday meeting that he has no plans to re-sign in Phoenix this summer as a free agent.

With the Thursday trade deadline looming and the clear message now sent that Dragic plans on playing elsewhere next season, it remains to be seen if Suns general manager Ryan McDonough will succumb to the pressure and agree to a deal. The people spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

While the Suns could trade Thomas as a way to relieve the obvious pressure in this point guard dynamic, it appears that Dragic does not want to return even if a move like that was made. The Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers are known to be among the teams pursuing him, and that list of serious suitors is believed to be seven or eight teams long.

@MikePradaSBN The trade deadline just got interesting again.

@ShamsCharania Suns informed Goran Dragic tonight that they'll accept his request for trade and work to move him by deadline, league source tells RealGM.

Why did the Suns sign all of these guards?

Dragic is going to be a Rocket. I've been begging for it all year.

Goran Dragic, James Harden, Trevor Ariza, Josh Smith, Dwight Howard. I like that lineup for the playoffs...

We might have to dump D-Mo or Jones in this trade.

I just can't see them trading him to a Western conference playoff team. Not while they still have playoff aspirations.

Didn't Houston have him and Lowry at some point? Why didn't they sign either? Not enough cap space at the time with Dwight coming in?

I don't think the Suns see themselves competing with Houston for the last spot. They are competing with OKC and New Orleans.

I don't want to trade D-Mo to get Dragic. I think he is more valuable to this team. He can score in the post at will. He's the only guy on the team who can do that. For people who haven't seen much of him, he's the real deal. Trade Jones and the NO pick, but not D-Mo. He's not worth it.

Why would they want to help make a team ahead of them better?

Well Suns front office, that's why you don't sign 3 point guards. I mean who would have known that this would bother dragic.

If Detroit doesn't think they can re-sign Monroe, Dragic for Monroe straight up is intriguing.

The Lakers might be dumb enough to send some combo of Randle, Davis, and Lin's expiring. And Phoenix is getting their 1st either this year or next.

I agree with you 100%. D-Mo is already a Top 5 NBA post player offensively. He just needs more touches and to pick-up his defense.

This is who they would likely make a huge push for anyways in the summer, so it makes sense.

I think they would be realistic about their chances, especially after losing Dragic. They won't get as good of a deal if they don't negotiate with Houston. Don't see anyone having something better to offer than say jones and the New Orleans 1st.

Morey was compiling assets and flexibility. Dragic wanted a player option that Morey didn't want to give him. The first round pick that the Rockets got for Lowry was used to get Harden. People like to make fun of these Morey moves, but it's this philosophy that landed Harden. Period.
