We had that for a while with Hartley and Carney back when Hartley was shanking the short ones.

Yeah upside is he is damn near automatic from 40 in, but if we keep him we really need to keep a second kicker for longer attempts.

Makes no sense to have a "long range" kicker in the NFL.

No please not two kickers or three QB's. We need all the roster spots possible.

I didn't see terms? If its a large contract guaranteed I would have a problem with signing him. But as there will be a couple of legs in camp to compete if he is beat out we can just drop him.

Maybe to compete w/ Hopkins (signed at the end of last season and put on the PS)

I don't see where the terms have been released, but based on his last contract I would think it would be just shy of $1M w/ no bonuses or guarantees.

We just need a leg to step up!

I'm not impressed with the Saints kicker competition over the past 5-8 years

Hunnicutt? The guy who cost Oklahoma a win by missing an xp and an 18 yard fg?

The New Orleans Saints re-signed kicker Shayne Graham and outside linebacker Parys Haralson for nearly $1 million each, although it would count for far less against the team's salary cap.

Graham will make a base salary of $970,000 and Haralson $870,000, according to NFLPA records.

Both figures represent the league minimum for the player's credited service time. Graham has 14 accrued seasons; Haralson has nine.

Only $585,000 of their base salaries will count against the salary cap in 2015 because of the veteran minimum benefit. The benefit is meant to encourage teams to sign veteran players by limiting their cap burden.
