The team did everything right except for one thing.

went 10-16 from the free throw line which was the difference.
we stayed out of foul trouble, we shot 47% from the field holding UK to 45%. they only had 5 more rebounds the us (23 defensive rebounds for both teams but 17-12 offensively in favor of UK).
Hornsby didn't have his best night from deep though, only 2 of 6 and as a team we shot 3 of 10 yet we kept Kentucky in check from deep only allowing 2 of 12.
make some more of those FTs or another 3 ball or 2 we would have won it.
great game though really proud of how the team fought back.

maybe having a certain player not try to be the hero over the last 3 minutes....just sayin.

The team showed us that they can play some ball. I hope they take this game and play with a chip on there shoulders and win some ball games. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

Nothing.
FTs are a reason you lose or win some games. This wasn't one.

No, not having anyone to control the game and get us to the line under the 8 minute mark.
We have no guards to control the clock and no one to direct them in doing so.

missing 6 free throws in a 2 point game had nothing to do with the loss? OK

Yep. Missed the big 3 with about 90 seconds left. Then Patterson (?) gets him the ball with under 10 seconds left; the defender goes airborne; all he has to do is pump fake, but he doesn't. After seeing all that, no way I'd have called his number on the final play. The stupid shot he took was to be expected.
Our guards are awful. But with all of that said, crimminy, that's a talented Kentucky team, and our guys hung with them even though we're 20 points worse on a neutral court.

Should've fouled Willey when the clock was at 30 seconds. Even though booker missed his second shot I rather put their worst shorter on the line and maybe he misses both. Still it was a great game with a lot of should have, could have in the end

In a home game against the number one team in the country, 60% from the free throw line most assuredly matters. Obviously not the sole reason for the loss, but to say it "had nothing to do with the loss," c'mon man.

Hell of a game! Something could have been done different but i definitely agree with going for the win there, we were too gased for OT

Think you're wrong on this one buddy. Mickey misses the back end of a 1 and 1, and Hornsby misses the front end of a technical. 2 point ballgame.

Yeah, I think if we make more free throws and have better possessions down the stretch and LSU wins it

When UK got the tech, I assume LSU put their best free throw shooter on the line. If that is the case, they said Hornsby is a 76% free throw shooter. In my opinion, that is pretty weak.

Kentucky shot that same FT% as LSU tonight so if you think FT shooting was the reason LSU lost this game, I will respectfully disagree. LSU lost games this season due to FT shooting but this was NOT one of them. Kentucky missed FTs down the stretch just like LSU. The only reason LSU had a chance to win the game with a 3 was because Kentucky's BEST FT shooter made ONLY 1 of 2 FTs. You can't compare what LSU did in a vacuum. LSU shot nearly their average for the season on FTs.
LSU played a near flawless game against the undisputed #1 team in the country. They had only 9 turnovers tonight only time this year below double digits in turnovers outside the Sam Houston State game. They HAD a lead with under 3 minutes to play. This team played their hearts OUT but came up just a little short.
My opinion and this is just my opinion but if you want to pinpoint a reason look no further than they way the offense executed down the stretch coming out the LAST media timeout. We had WAY TOO many possessions where we did NOT come away with a quality shot for a variety of reasons. The ONE quality look at the basket Hornsby missed a 3 from the corner. Every game I continue to be impressed with the play of Jalyn Patterson. He played 25 minutes tonight without committing a single turnover. WHY he was NOT in the game down the stretch after the media timeout was the SINGLE most baffling thing to me. Jones decided to go with Gray. That was Jones decision and maybe it was the WRONG decision. Both Gray and Quarterman STRUGGLED to get LSU in their offense and made bad decisions in critical points in the game. We can only guess why Jones made that decision maybe he felt Gray gave LSU to better opportunity to beat Kentucky 1 on 1 off the dribble. That is a risk reward situation and unfortunately the risk was greater than the reward tonight. In the West Virginia game that decision paid dividends.
I'm not BIG on moral victories but tonight I can take solace in knowing that this team played a near flawless game and went toe to toe with the undisputed #1 team in the country!! They were ONE Les Miles QUALITY possession away from beating this team!! Don't even get me started on the blatant NON-CALLS from the officials on the last few Kentucky possessions. How the official looking straight at Martin getting mugged on one of their last possessions on that rebound. The Kentucky man basically used his as a stepping ladder and choose NOT to blow his whistle. Kentucky has seem to get those calls the last two times late in the game against LSU. Everybody remembers the Fats Domino walking to New Orleans walk from the 3 point line in the last game in Rupp with seconds left....
