The trigger on those things are so bad, look at the ruger lcr's. I just got one in 9mm, trigger is better. I was actually looking to buy the 642 until I handled one.

I had a 442 same thing just black. It was awesome, stupidly sold it.

Going to get the 9mm Ruger revolver or a 356 snub from s&w to replace it.

Had a .38 with no hammer. Was painful to shoot but surprisingly more accurate than expected.

I keep a S&W snubnose .357 66-2 in my truck. I love that little gun. I picked it up for $125 when I was 18 years old.

Keep a LCR in my truck. Not much fun to shoot, but it serves a purpose.

S&w are notoriously a bit heavy new. Dry firing will lighten it up

The wife has a Taurus ultra light .38 special. It was a gift from her Dad. He's a little bit of a gun nut so I was kind of shocked that he went cheap for his daughter. I've shot it plenty, and carried it a few times. I tried to get her to like a semi-auto but the slide cycling threw her off. She thought the recoil was too much on the little .38 so I bought a Ruger P95, thinking heavier weight and only a 9mm would help, but she just didn't like it.

Had a SW 637-2 .38+P (like 642 but with exposed hammer). I liked it, but was recently talked out of it for more than I paid for it.

See if you can find a 642 that does not have the lock.

I never truly "carried" the 637 except in a briefcase or side holstered at the farm, but it worked well like that. I'm looking at a Sig P938 for my first true CCW pistol.

ETA: My 637 was as accurate as I could shoot it, and it didn't kick bad for the type of pistol that it was.

I'd recommend renting one at Precision and shooting it first. It's not an enjoyable gun to shoot.

wn a SW 637. Ultralight 38 with exposed hammer. It shoots. It goes bang and it is a gun so it is loud. It is samll, light and is a 38 so there is somehting called recoil. It shoots pretty accurate. I like it.

This in .38 spcl. Fits in pocket holster smoothly.

And it is fatal to whitetails

I carried a 642 for years when I was in plain clothes. I never had trouble qualifying with it. It actually shot well. Maybe some range time?.....

Yup. Taurus hammerless 5 rounder.

Good trigger pull and shoots well. Well made.

Bought in 2001. Stamped made in Brazil. Means it was made on the S&W presses down there.

I have a Ruger SP101 I keep jic. Comes in handy. Just don't take it to the range. It's more of a gun you use when some thug tries to pull you out of your car or other close proximity situations.
