I'm fairly eclectic when it comes to my taste in music, but I do love myself some female artists.

At the top of the line for me is Norah Jones. She completely sets a calm/sexy (not sexual)tone for me when I hear her sing. I love her storytelling ability, and her ability to draw you in closer with her timbre.

Others of note that I thoroughly enjoy are: Joss Stone and Natalie Merchant. If you've never given these ladies a chance, I would encourage you to open up your mind to letting them in.

Love me some Norah Jones. A few years ago, I saw her at Mud Island here in Memphis. We got second row seats right in front of her. She plays a few songs and then says "We're going to play some Grateful Dead." All the old fogies get up to get a beer/go to the bathroom. She starts playing "It Must Have Been the Roses" and I start belting it out from my seat. She sees me singing the song looks at me and smiles and nods. My heart melted . I know CSB.

Is she the one that Ryan Adams had a duet with, on one of his records awhile back? If so, she had a nice voice..

I know the name in general, but kinda mix her up with some other female singers... and couldn't really tell you the name of any of her songs, though I'm sure I have heard them before...

That RA record is about 10 years old, so I didnt remember if that was her or not..

I did just check and yes, it is her

I saw her at a Rolling Stones tribute in NYC a couple of years ago. Bumped into her after the show, absolutely beautiful in person and her voice kills me

Norah Jones is amazing.

If you like her try:

Diana Krall, particularly the albums Love Scenes and When I Look Into Your Eyes

and

London Grammar, that chick's voice could calm a meerkat on speed.

Natalie Merchant.

I wanted to not like her. 10,000 Maniacs unplugged ruined that. Her voice is awesome. Excellent "sing me to sleep" music.

Nora Jones? (This is NOT a knock). I've never seen someone be so huge for the one Grammy year then just kind of go away. Or not away, but back to moderate fame. And smaller venues? They suit her better anyway. It's like she was a one hit wonder, but she's really not. She still has her following. Kind of cool actually.
