Good. I know the money is good, but most are ready to get some time off.

No real surprise here. Talks to resume next week.

They may talk, but, if the USW isn't willing to drop the contractor issue, an agreement won't be made. I'm sure they will want something new such as back pay or bonuses, but that will be new negotiations.

No idea.

They are voted in every couple of years. I think the vote should be coming up soon.

I'm about ready to return to some sort of normalcy.
The big man said today, that he sees this going on for months, not weeks.

I agree. I think the union bit off more than they can chew this go round. People will cross the lines easily if this lasts passed mid May.

I haven't had contact with anyone walking the line, but I can't find anyway they can reason that what they are doing is proving a point. Especially if the union concedes to Shell and gives up the contractor issue.

I'm returning Friday!!
Idc if this last till May. If your foolish enough to stay out of your "job" then god bless you. I'm going back with a smile and will smile while they march in front of my truck for 45secs. The company has no reason to give in. They are holding back bc they know people are/will return back soon enough and the Union will be SOL. I believe after this is done, especially at my site, the Union will be damn near irrelevant more than they already are.

This isn't going to last for months because the first facility to decertify will be the first domino falling. Rapid succession after that.

Norco and Deer Park are practically in a race to get to the numbers required to force the vote.

What happens if the union decertifies? If enough people cross the line will the unions call off the strike?

No more union at those sites.

Not likely. There is not a lot of support in strikes any longer.

How often does decertification happen? If that does occur, do the workers just start working directly for the refinery? Sorry for the dumb questions, just not familiar with actually occurs during a strike.
What is the general Union reaction when workers decertify? Do they attempt to intimidate those folks?
