Gotta hit Frenchman Street: dba on wed they have the tin Men followed by Walter Washington and Thurs its Jon Cleary. Spotted Cat has Antoine Diel on Wed. Also, try out the Backroom at Buffa's - Thurs they have Aurora Nealand and Tom McDermott. Can always check the live music calendar at wwoz.org to get the latest updates.

If you hear Black Betty keep walking.
First time people? Just let them stay in the Quarter! I know all the locals will piss on that notion. But it is MORE than enough for a first time visitor. And they, being newbies, will want to experience the Quarter. Hopping around all over town to hit these cool "locals only know" spots can get tiring. Is next weekend Mardi gras? Getting a cab in Mardi gras is a disaster unless it has improved.

Snug usually had an early and a late show if my memory serves me correctly. Preservation hall is also a good suggestion. Sticking in the quarter is good but cabbing it uptown for rebirth @ maple leaf on Tuesday is always a winner for out of towners.
