Sister n law and two friends will be there Monday thru Friday. They will be staying somewhere in the Garden district about 8 blocks from the street car line. They already have lunch planned at Commanders. They are looking to eat at one fine dining and the rest more casual spot. Also looking for suggestions for stuff for them to do. I am going to send them to frenchman st and to maple leaf to see rebirth. Any suggestion for bars and restaurants near the street car would be great. TIA

I just asked for fine dining spots that they could get reservations on short notice. Now I am really looking for overall suggestions of things for them to do.

Never been but I hear Parkway is very good for PoBoys. There are some really good threads about NOLA PoBoys though as well.
The F&D crowd has gotten aggressive the last couple of days.

Best shrimp poboy in town, imo. Also, the Surf and Turf. People are hot and cold on the roast beef there though. I personally don't care for it. They don't serve oyster poboys regularly there so that is problematic as well.

My initial rec would be Herbsaint & Coquette.
Then, La Petit, Clancy's, Lilette.
Bars-Cure, Bouligny Tavern, Rusty Nail, Ave Pub(beer drinkers only)

So far I am sending them to probably Parkway, Cochon Butcher, Cassamentos, Herbsaint, and Central Grocery and Peche for lunch days. Getting them reservations probably at August unless someone has a better suggestion. They are going to spend some time checking out bars and other things along the street car line(any suggestions?) When they go to Central Grocery I will have them check out Jackson Square and the French Market. They will make the trip to Bourbon st and check out Pat Obriens, Absinthe house etc. Shopping on Magazine st. Frenchman st for music at night. Maple leaf to see Rebirth. Maybe Tippitinas or Rock n Bowl one night. Any other suggestions?

Take a ride on the ferry, get off the streetcar at the Aquarium and ride it across. Have a couple drinksat Algiers Point and ride it back.

I went to the Little Gem on Saturday night. Both Kermit Ruffins and the food were fantastic.
