Closest/best place to saltwater fish from Baton Rouge right now

Me and some of my friends are in Baton Rouge at LSU and this weekend we want to take out some kayaks fishing. We went to some marina around the big bridge over the intracoastal in Chalmette a couple weeks ago, but that was an overall 6 mile kayak once we were in the water. We're looking for some place to fish where it is good right now and is accessible with a kayak. There doesn't even need to be a marina; we could just drop it off the road. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

They're right. Hwy 1 is the Mecca of yak fishing.
