What would do TODAY if you won that money? That's a fun conversation too.

Legitimately, I'd take the rest of the day off from work and tell the wife to do the same...
-Buy a couple first class plane tickets to Costa Rica (our honeymoon spot) or somewhere tropical that leaves this afternoon.
-Swing by the store on the way home and grab a new laptop to take with me (to figure out what I'm going to do with the money)
-Call my parents and my brother to let them know whats up and tell them to keep it hush
-Get to resort or wherever I'm staying, live it up for a day or 2. then try to figure out WTF we are going to do

what about like the first couple hours after you know you won

- sign the back
- call immediate family
- put it in my safety deposit box
- call my financial advisor and get his advice
- when i was ready to bring it to the lotto office i'd ask one of my cop friends to bring me to the office.

(i'd probably wait a week or so until i went to the lotto office so i can get all my ducks in a row)

Aside from hookers and blow and all the other OT shenanigans..obviously paid off all your shite, hooked your people up if you wanted, etc.
As you say, I would make sure my family and friends are taken care of for life.

I would invest a portion such that, even if I blow the rest, I will have enough to live comfortably for the rest of my days. I would spend those days traveling, staying where the diving is good. Following whales, whale sharks, great whites. You know, the usual stuff.

Likely buy a couple thousand acres on the Mississippi River around Vicksburg for hunting and a getaway.I would probabaly buy the wife a beach house somewhere.A large portion would go into a trust for the kids. The rest I would invest.

And this is how it happens

Half split between Exxon, Apple, Johnson & Johnson, and Under armor. Put 20% into various retirement funds and mutual funds. Another 20% would be used to build a comfortable house, buy a few places in vacation spots, one on each coast, one in Colorado. And also buy a nice vehicle. 10% for living expenses. I'd still work part time to have an income until about 40.

People think I'm nuts, but I always tell people I'd just do exactly the same shite as I do now. Just less worries. I don't want the headaches of big expensive shite but the comfort of knowing I could tell my boss to frick off at any given day and be good.

Mostly the same. I would quietly fund charities and political orgs I care about. And in time, I'd probably ramp up my expenses to some degree. But if you go out and buy a mansion and a lambo the next month, where do you go from there?

I would buy a house where I want to live.
I would build my camp (about 10 years ahead of schedule!) where I already own the land as well as put in the necessary infrastructure (electricity, road access, sewer, ect).

I would build my brother and his wife a house so they wouldn't have to go through our dad anymore.

I would donate a significant sums of money to St. Jude Children's research Hospital, Christ the King Catholic Church at LSU, LSU College of Engineering's School of Construction Management, LSU's department of Bands, and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant.

I would invest in rental property in Capital Heights, The Garden District, and north of LSU.

I would invest in a legal education for myself.

I would invest in commercial rental property and in surface parking lots downtown.

The rest would be invested in stocks, bonds, ect.

While in law school, I would probably flip houses.

The absoulute last thing I would do is go to law school. I might actually pay $180 million to go back in time and not go to law school.

Pay off my bills, buy a decent size house for a family of 5...change my phone number, and move far away from family...don't need no drop-in visits.

See, your problem was that you were going to law school to become a lawyer. There is a different play involved here.
