The quality of college ball in general is pretty poor. If you watch NBA games and then watch LSU, it probably looks atrocious.

Cool cool, the only reason he is looking good is because he can recruit. Give Frank his talent and we would be a top 3 seed..

So when's he going to start recruiting? They joined the SEC at the same time and LSU was terrible when he took over.

Jones - 23-20 in the SEC
2013: 9-9
2014: 9-9
2015: 5-2

Martin - 10-32 in the SEC
2013: 4-14
2014: 5-13
2015: 1-6

You sure his job is secure?

They need to make these kids either go pro from HS or commit to at LEAST 2 years in college. I can't imagine how hard it is to get these teams to gel right when you're constantly putting freshman into the lineup.

Gcockboi, Martin is a good x and O guy, but he is so abrasive, he will not ever get many outstanding players. M@M may both leave, but LSU will still have more talent than SC next year.

Johnny is going against what he would like to do because of depth. I like this.

Look at the "talent" LSU had when Jones came in as well. We literally had 3-4 empty chairs every game

Why do you say black version smoke laval instead of basketball version smoke laval? A man is more than his skin color.

Not the best guy with X's and O's

When you watch other college teams, it seems like very few are good at this.

Perhaps it's the evaluation of the coaches' skills and not the coaches themselves. I'm sure if players were required to stay for 3 years after getting on campus, a lot of coaches would look a lot better.

"His players are getting more seasoned, but our half court offense still not great , and we need cleaner passing. "

The fact that we have no post presence and he knows that we must score in transition whenever possible is a plus for his X'sandO's grade. This team will always struggle against physical deliberate teams like SC because the matchup is bad. If we don't get 15-20 fast break pts. a game we won't get near the 70 ppg. we need to move on. It is what it is, I'll take it for now.

Is that the same Daddy Dale who took his teams to fifteen NCAA dances in a row with two Final Four trips? Brown coached at a time when the SEC had five to six quality programs and not just one.

JJ's team are progressing, but let's not become delusional to the point we see him as better right now than Brown was in the LSU basketball glory days.

I always thought for him to do as well as he did at North Texas with limited resources, thought he would honestly do well here. I'm am surprised at all the badass players and recruits were stacking up. It's unreal, like you said, maybe not the best x's and o's coach, but he has good assistants to help.

I'm glad we don't have any coaches in any sport like Frank Martin. I'm all for getting on players and letting them know they need to execute, but cussing and degrading them is not the way to do it.

College basketball coaching starts with recruiting. If you cannot recruit well, you are NOT a good college basketball coach. JJ is waaaaaaay better CBB HC than Frank Martin. Last three years proves that.

Like your post and agree, except this part.

I know Dale Brown has the stigma of being a bad x's and o's coach. I don't think it's warranted as much as it sticks to him. But JJ hasn't shown x's and o's himself, imo.

That said, JJ was the right hire. LSU basketball is ^^ and only going to get better.

I'm very happy with the way the offense has slowed down a bit, there seems to be a lot less jacked up 3's lately.

I like how free throws almost lost the Vandy game for us and then you see a noticeable improvement tonight.

He has a chance to be very good here at LSU.

It just reaffirms the point that it truly is hard to win big at USCjr.

Both he and Johnny are in their third year and the records speak for themselves.
