Helping a friend who is seeking the best of the best restaurants in these cities and/or towns.

Can be a great hole in a wall or a place that sets them back $50 to $60 per head.

Vinnies in Napolionville.

Its a smokehouse but he also does sandwhiches and plate lunches.

I like Poches in Breaux Bridge. Once again a meat market with a lunch counter.

My favorite Breaux Bridge restaurants are Café des Ami, Buck and Johnny's, Glenda's Creole Kitchen, Zapote, and Le Café.

Lafayette restaurants I like are Charlie G's, French Press, Pamplona, Tsunami, Bon Temps Grill, Jolie's, Bread and Circus, Don's Downtown, Oishi, Old Tyme Grocery, and Pizza Village (Northside).

Both lists I have started off with the more expensive places first then going to more casual dining places. I don't know anything about New Iberia or Napoleonville. Good Luck.

Bread and Circus

Bread and Circus Provisions is, bar none, the most disgusting restaurant I've ever been to.

Completely serious. The atmosphere is dreadful. The food is not comparable to any decent restaurant and the kitchen is filthy to have to look at.
I tried the fried chicken skins and they tasted like old nasty yard bird.
If you like sitting in rickety chairs, eating bad food out of a paperbag in a damp, cramped, dirty hole in the wall, though..

I prefer Saint Street Inn as a hole in the wall , Olde Tyme Grocery or Johnsons Boucanierre. I wouldn't ever go back to B&C, under any circumstance.. but I respect anyone's preference, if they enjoy the place.

Damn baw! I disagree with this. But you like what you like.

As has been said for Lafaytte:
Social, Pamplona, Charlie G's, Social, Bread and Circus, Dark Roux, Shade Tree Cafe, Saint Street Inn, Johnson's Boucaneirre, Old Tyme Grocery, Taco Sisters.

Or hell.. the Chevron Station at 600 Kaliste Saloom has a very good Lebanese/Greek deli and at least it's clean.

From the loud headbanging music that's piped in over your head at the front counter to the drab grey prefab brick walls and concrete floor, Bread and Circus Provisions would be comparable to eating in Charles Manson's prison cell. And I'm not exaggerating.

All Breaux Bridge
Buck and Johnnys is good, Des Ami was okay, not as good as I was expecting, still good though. Poches is legit. Crazy bout Crawfish is good too.
ETA: Mulates before it closed was always good, IIRC when the owner died, the manager bought the building and renamed it Pont Breaux's, havent tried it yet, but assuming same management the food should be good.

Really on B&C? Manny was just recognized as one of the 10 most influential chefs in the state. He created the Jolie's menu when they started and made a huge splash. And now his B&C has been featured on food network twice and in Savior magazine. It's supposed to be a stripped down, farm-to-table place.

Edit: that being said, the best Greek/Lebanese in Lafayette is at that Athena in the gas station on kaliste saloom.

It was a huge disappointment because Thrillist had B&C with a top ten burger in the state, so I was anxious to check it out but was informed they only make the burgers on Thurday, so my friend had a sweet potato soup with vegetables that were unrecognizable. She was pulling long black strings out of it. I had a large chicken and sausage gumbo, very little meat at all, no sausage.. and the ambiance.. well.. like I said.. Charles Manson.. or Marilyn Manson, whichever is worse.

Yea, I saw that they had the Juicy Lucy listed. I actually wasnt crazy about the burger myself. It wasn't bad, just not overly special. Morvants didn't make the list, which I found insane because they're by far the best burger within a 30 mile radius of Lafayette.
But that would be the only thing on the menu that I wouldnt order again at B&C.

Morvant's is a very good burger.. and it's pretty cool sitting outside, like in the old days.
