Tech Board, but...

What's the value of Hulu+ if you have an antenna? I have a TiVo and record content that is available over Hulu+.

Is this not a thread discussing Net TV?

I dont. We dont have any recording capabilities. And the value of Hulu is to me is the same it is to everyone. I can watch an entire season of any season of nearly any show on any major network at a moments notice or catch nearly anything aired on cable 24 hrs later.

Had Uverse. I think I paid $170 for the U450 (or whatever it was called) package. When I moved, I bought a Roku. I pay $55 for 105 mbps internet, and have Netflix, Hulu Plus, and already had Amazon Prime (Total is under $100 a month, plus I get free shipping with Amazon). Other than missing sporting events, we are never lacking for television shows to watch.

Recently bought a Samsung smart TV and don't even need the Roku anymore. It's all built in.

You have to add in the price of internet for this to be accurate i feel like

I wish mine was $250. I have Cox with the fastest internet speed they have, a land line for security system and 6 HD boxes (this is the most they will allow one household to have) all connected to the main DVR. My average bill is closer to $400/month. Yes...I'm stupid or lazy or maybe both. Definitely both.

Jesus Christ son. That's a car note each month

Was getting excited till i read this in a review for it

One rule could be a deal breaker for certain customers though, and that's Sling TV's single-device limit. You can only watch in one place at any one time. Hoping to sit back and watch TV on the Roku while your kid watches Disney Channel from a tablet? Sorry. No can do.

Not really. People with monster cable bills still pay for internet.

I don't really have a use for Amazon Prime. So getting "free" content off of it defeats the purpose if you have other systems.

The only thing that Roku has that I would want is the headphone jack on the remote.

This is crazy. I have the mid tier (50 MB) Internet, HD and DVR, and HBO. I'd tell them to frick off if they charged me $250 for that. My bill is $130.

You do realize that Sling TV will not work with Apple TV at launch?

Besides, Amazon Fire TV + Kodi beats every streaming device made.

but you just said that you use Prime to get physical things...

you're already paying for the streaming service when you pay for Prime

I missed a would* in there.

I edited. But I didn't find much of a purpose of it, for me personally, when I've used it in the past.

Airplay.

Same with Amazon Instant as well. You can Airplay just about anything on Apple TV that you can get with Roku except for Google Music, Movies, TV, etc.
