My take. I been up to the north in summer and winter. Screw that. Besides, old cities that are ran down blow the big one.

Anyone that puts labels like "friendly" on entire regions is a moron....don't be a moron

I've been living in the Nebraska/Iowa area for the last 8 months. It's not that bad.

Let's see...better terrain and breathtaking landscapes, uncomparable hunting of any kind, badass fishing, seclusion, hiking, way better weather (you dont sweat your balls off in December), better demographics, more self-reliance and being surrounded by people that are more self-reliant. It's basically the south without all the bad shite.

Depends on exactly where you're talking. I'd rather live in Chicago or Philly than bumfrick Alabama. By the same token I'd much rather live in Orlando than rural Ohio.

Be more specific when you say "North." Swedish accents are not nasally.

South Louisiana food/cooking is the best by far. Once you're north of Alec food is just blah. Along with Southern hospitality.

Also have heard many male relatives who travel for work say the prettiest women on earth are in Louisiana. Not necessarily a genetic trait as much as it is that they take better care of themselves and make more effort on their everyday appearance when it comes to dressing cute, fixing their hair, wearing make up, etc.

Minnesota has a surplus near one billion this year. Unemployment on the way down, education one of the strongest in the country, and the Mayo Clinic and U of M to boot. When my family wants to see poverty, crime, corruption and pollution, we can always visit the South.

The northeast is pretty great, actually.

You learn to live with the cold, and when it's not cold it's perfect up there.

The south has a lot of great things about it. It's my home and I love it. But to assume it is the be all end all of places to live is probably coming from a place of ignorance.

I don't think I could live in the NE. Just too damn crowded. Maybe further in the NE, like Vermont and Maine. But those winters...

Couldn't do the Midwest. The Midwest is basically the south but more boring and pale.

The NW though? One day....one day

I've only lived in the NE for a little over a year and a half, versus the 26 or so spent in Louisiana, but from what I've learned here's my list of things that each has over the other. Not saying which is better, that's something for each person to decide for themselves.

North (speaking NE specifically, I've never lived anywhere else):

Bigger cities
Higher average intelligence
More innovative
Cleaner
Better summers
Public transportation is better
Diversity of places to go and things to do
Better pay
More jobs available
Better schools
More options for food

South (mostly Louisiana, but most of these can count across the board):

Better winters
Better sports
Tailgating
Better looking women
Friendlier people
More hometown pride, if that makes sense
Better relationships, as people who went to elementary/high school are more likely to still be in the same area
Better seafood

I am not saying this is an all inclusive list for either side, just what I could think of as I'm ignoring a keynote speaker at a conference.
