So, just as LSU starts to get its feet back under it, this happens. So we get to watch the university's academic side get gutted again.

It is time. It is time to protect and build up LSU, even though it will have to be done at the expense of other schools. Jindal is a worthless coward.

AGAIN????

Health care services had been told it would have to absorb a $250 million hit, which could balloon to more than twice that size because Louisiana would no longer be able to put up the dollars required to attract certain types of federal funding.
Way to go Bobby.

This is bad. School closures may be a real possibility.

start with SUNO. Then combine ULM and LA TECH.

Also combine SELU with UNO.

LSU (at least the degree programs worth anything) won't feel much of anything. So relax.

It has been said over and over again that higher ed in Louisiana needs to be slimmed down. I mean, some majors are just flat out useless, and some colleges are flat out failing. A school with an 8% graduation rate (SUNO) is pretty pointless and the property should be sold, or at the least converted to something that can make money.

I still don't see this as much of a Jindal issue as it is an issue on how we make our money in Louisiana. Lower oil prices = less money. Gotta come up with a long-term plan to substitute the lost money because so much is based purely on oil prices

They could save a lot of that by cutting the extreme waste at LSU-Conway, which I know has been "sold" but still costs the state a lot of money.

Would most Grambling students survive at Tech?

Who cares? Kids can now go to community college for 2 years for free so they only need 2 years at LSU.

How's it still costing them money? Isn't BRF leasing the building?

This state amazes me. Let's make a state constitution that allows cuts only to healthcare and education, two areas that probably produce the most dividends. Then again, people did vote for Edwin Edwards again.

Too much money is wasted on higher education. 2-3 state universities should be closed imo.
