SIAP: Deflategate is not about Brady and the receivers. It's about TO's (Link)

One can CLEARLY SEE the Patriots, visually, are off the chart. There is no other team even close to being near to their rate of 187 offensive plays (passes+rushes+sacks) per fumble. The league average is 105 plays/fumble. Most teams are within 21 plays of that number.

The odds of such a statistical distribution were calculated at one in 16,233. That’s a comma, not a decimal. Sixteen thousand two hundred and thirty three to one.

I've brushed this incident off for the most part, but this is very solid data.

So either

1) the Patriots are damn good and then got unlucky in the one instance they cheated/bent the rules with the balls.

2) the Patriots are damn good and got extremely unlucky the cold weather/some combination of factors affected the balls and now they are getting falsely accused

3) the Patriots have been bending the rules to get an advantage and now got caught

What's most likely?

Check the Eagles' footballs for overinflation. No way they fumble so much due to bad ball handling alone.

You serious? That isn't an outlier. 1 team has to be last with any distribution.

re: #1 - This is the least likely option.
re: #2 - This is the msot ambiguous option.
re: #3 - This option eliminates that the Patriots are damn good. So I disagree.

I suggest #4 - The Patriots are damn good but also have been caught twice in the last decade committing knowing acts that provided them an unfair competitive advantage.

They should be made an example of.

eta: didn't the colts accuse them of doing this the last time they played as well?

I feel like everyone brushed off the issue too fast.

I didn't think it was anything, but I wanted to actually see the facts before I made up my mind.

ridley probably accounted for 50% of the fumbles

That said good tems don't turn the ball over. This might be why they win a lot, not due to deflated balls

Yeh, but their winning percentage isn't some massive outlier. They were caught cheating. Period. This isn't circumstantial data that lends to a conspiracy of why they might be getting advantage. They were caught not playing by the rules.

Burden is on the Patriots to show that its not a big deal that can give a noticeable advantage. Maybe then, a slap on the wrist and stricter policies in the future would be acceptable. This data makes that notion incredibly hard to prove.

It will be interesting to see if they come back to the mean next year when their balls will be more closely monitored.

Have you listened to the recent Patriot-centric BS Report?

Bill Simmons voice is like nails on a chalk board and I'm pretty much over this whole ordeal so I dont go out of my way to read/hear more about it

And BS is pretty dumb about football over all so unless he has Lombardi or someone like that to carry him, it's not worth listening too
