For those saying Hathcock, did he ever kill two armed robbers at a gas station and then just have the police call the Pentagon to vouch that he was the baddest man on the earth? Didn't think so, Hathcock is clearly inferior to Chris Kyle.

I know we don't have a sarcasm emoticon so I'm not sure you're serious. Hopefully you don't really believe that.

Of course I believe it, Chris Kyle and Marcus Luttrell said so. If you don't worship them you are un-American and should kill yourself or move to Cuba.

Those pre 64 Winchester Model 70s are a bit more than just a deer rifle.

Read about his mission in Laos killing that high ranking general.

That is the most amazing mission I have ever heard of - he did that one without a spotter IIRC.

Best American and used a Winchester model 70 .270. Happens to be my deer rifle.

Actually, it was a 30-06 with a fixed power Unerti scope.

And it was intended as a hunting rifle and the the US just put into service as a sniper rifle.

To me this is what I thought was his coolest shot.

2,500 yards

The irony is that one of the greatest feats Hatchcock did....he did without a rifle.

quote:

Hathcock's career as a sniper came to a sudden end along Route 1, north of LZ Baldy in September 1969, when the amtrack he was riding on, an LVT-5, struck an anti-tank mine. Hathcock pulled seven Marines off the flame-engulfed vehicle and was severely burned before jumping to safety.
