those are good calls, washington had some legit squads a few years back, but it may have just been the perfect storm of getting 2 elite players at the same time(brandon roy and nate rob). Huggins actually has more final four appearances at WVa(1) than Cinci(0), but i feel like he had better overall teams and talent while at cinci, just really bad luck with that kenyon martin injury.

ben howland is an absolute head scratcher. he basically built that pitt program, then had immediate success at ucla, and absolutely tanked. it's probably the most dramatic example of success to staleness.

He did reach the Final Four with Cincinnati in 1992...

Has Boeheim and his refusal to play anything but a 2-3 zo e been mentioned?

You can add Rupp and Wooden to this as well.

Steve Lavin. I really thought he was going to recruit NYC very well and bring back St. John's basketball. Have they even made the tournament?

They did I think his first year. He was out last year with cancer treatment. They'll be in NCAA this year.

Is Mark Few still at Gonzaga? Every year seems like an inflated 30-2 season, top three seed, second round exit.

The Oregon of basketball, except Oregon turned out to deserve it this year.

I'm starting to think Shaka Smart waited too long.

That team was on the brink the season before. His first year at St. John's (much like Trent Johnson at LSU) was loaded with veteran talent. Since that season, Lavin has taken St. John's to the second round of the NIT in the 2010-2011 season and first round of the NIT tournament last season.

Will they? They are currently sitting at 13-6 (2-4 in the Big East) staring down the barrel of Providence, Butler, Xavier (twice), Georgetown (twice), Seton Hall, Marquette, and Villanofun. I could see this team missing out on the Big Dance again.

Speaking of coaches who may be losing it, John Thompson III hasn't had a good tourney showing since his 2007 Final Four team.
