I would talk more crap about him if we didn't lose to him all the time.
And I know Aldridge was there. The guys I listed have been there since the last time Barnes made a sweet 16.

Meh. Barnes made
Texas a consistent winner. He sort of parallels Mack Brown oddly enough.
I love how people always jump on a coach who recruits well but doesn't win huge. It's better than recruiting well at all...

Don't forget Aldridge and T.J. Ford
Barnes has a ton of talent this year, too. But Texas won't make it out of the second round

This dude named Trent Johnson at TCU

I remember all those guys. I was just including the ones that he's had since he made his last sweet 16 or I would have included TJ, LA, Damion, DJ, and multiple others.

Couldn't make it out of the second round with Kevin Durant and hasn't made a Sweet 16 since 2008. His players on teams since then have included Damion James, Dexter Pittman, Jordan Hamilton, Avery Bradley, Corey Joseph, Tristan Thompson, Myck Kabongo, and J'Covan Brown.
Is there any coach that can come close to matching that?
Rick Barnes is essentially stealing money to be an Xavier-level program, despite having enormous resources and talent at his disposal.
Think about his players:
LaMarcus Aldridge
DJ Augustine
Avery Bradley
Kevin Durant
Maurice Evans
TJ Ford
Daniel Gibson
Jordan Hamilton
Royal Ivey
Damion James
Corey Joseph
Chris Mihm
Chris Owens
Dexter Pittman
James Thomas
Tristan Thompson
PJ Tucker
Most of these guys aren't just NBA players who barely made the league-- most of them have logged over 300 games in the NBA.
In his 17 year tenure, he's had essentially 4 competent to marginal pros on his roster just about every season. His results? One Final Four, two Elite Eights, one Sweet 16--- and three regular season conference titles.

When Drew arrived at Baylor, the first team he fielded consisted of players that tried out. Literally held try outs at the SLC.
He now has a 219-161 record as a head coach and 2 Elite Eight trips now. He can't help who he plays against in the in the NCAA tournament. The 2010 team could of won it all. The charge on Acy cost us that game, it hurts :(
Did he toe the line in recruiting, certainly. But he did what he had to do to get the program where it is.
He certainly ins't the greatest in game coach but he has gotten better. One of the biggest complaints against him is that he isn't a x's and o's coach but he has gotten better the more experience he has been given.
Certainly not the worst P5 bball coach.

Is a broke man's Calipari. Not bad. However, Johnny Jones is a broke man's Scott Drew. Can't wait to see LSU get busted for their recruiting violations.

But you know how the refs are with Duke...

the parallels between brown and barnes are pretty strong, both came from carolina schools around the same time(unc and clemson) and revived their respective programs and had immediate success. only difference is brown reached the pinnacle by winning a national title(and playing for a second) while barnes never got quite that high.

To be fair... There are a ton of coaches and fanbases that would love a resume like that...............

TJ Ford, who actually got them to the Final Four

My problem with threads like this involve the exaggeration of the OP.
To honestly answer the question, you could take head coaches of the shittiest teams in the Power 5, plus the underperformers.
In the PAC-12 alone I'd say Barnes is currently better than Enfield, Alford, Romar...and whoever the hell is at Wazzu, Cal, or Oregon State. I'd probably throw in Sendek and Boyle and Altman also.
That leaves Krystkowiak, Miller, and Dawkins...
