I agree. Darth Vader could have been a really special character. But You also have to admit that in addition to the shitty acting, the scripts for the prequel movies were pretty terrible. They completely butchered it.

3-dimensional/dynamic -- religious background/criminal mind/killer/exhibits moments of doing right
Interesting situations -- way too many to recite
Played by good actor -- seems pretty convincing
Doesn't have to sway towards good or evil -- he sways more towards evil but still quotes scripture and believes he has towns best interest at heart when it also benefits him.
