Whole life insurance sales pitch
Posted on 1/22/15 at 2:38 pm

I have been getting bombarded by a friend of a friend (whom I'm never met) trying to get my to meet up with him to discuss "what he can do for me".
He works for Northwest Mutual, I've heard the pitch before, not interested.
He has left 6 messages in the past week, do I owe him a call back when he is just going to try to weasel his way into sitting down? Which I'm not going to do. The whole thing is pretty obnoxious, but the only way to get them to stop is to be rude...and I don't even know the guy, he's probably an okay guy.

Ask if you can call him back when you get a minute to talk, set your alarm for 3 in the morning, call him at 3 in the morning. If he doesn't answer, keep calling.
He'll get the hint.
He'll get the hint.

This isn't a guy in Shreveport is it?
He's been bugging my wife and I for 3 months.

I get NWM bugging me all the time. I'm starting to think about trolling them

No, Columbia, SC.
I've already heard the pitch from 2 other "associates" over the years. It's insufferable.
They'll draw out a stool with 3 legs to show me how I need to plan for the future. Which usually involves spending a few hundred a month for my whole life policy that has a "cash value"

They can even "tailor" a plan to my needs.

I use them for TERM life insurance and disability insurance, NWM is a pretty good company, this particular sales agent sounds kinda lika a douche, he may be desperate.
if youre not worried about life insurance, tell him to go frick himself. you wont be the first
then sit back and be happy you in the financial position that you are in. Most have it a lot worse.

I have some friends that are salespeople/reps for that company. They are all real good people. But no doubt they need to meet people to sell people, especially if they are just starting out.
Assuming he is a newbie (a non-newbie should know better than to call 6 times) you could:
A) ignore and hope he gets the hint
B) Call him back to say you are not interested
C) Tell him you will meet with him at a place of your choosing (not your office or home - maybe a coffee shop). Let him do his pitch. They sell more than whole life insurance - their term products and their disability products are pretty good - expensive, but good.
If you don't like what he has to say, then just thank him for his time and move on.
EDIT: I see you already have heard the company pitch. Yeah, that stool... LOL. Tell him thanks for the call but you are not interested as you have already spoken to a rep from the company.

Fraternity brother of a high school buddy, I've never met him.
After he left me a voice mail and I didn't respond the first time, he should have taken a hint.

90% of sales aren't closed after the first call. So get used to it.
I use NwM but for term and disability only. My agent always tries to switch me to whole but I remind him I'm by interested.

Agree to meet with him. Take out a 10 million dollar policy, and write a check for the first month's premium. He'll get his commissions advanced, and probably spend it all. Cancel the policy within the free look period. He'll get a huge reversal from his company, and have to pay it back. He won't be able to pay it back because he spent it all. He'll probably kill himself. He'll be dead, so he won't be able to bother you anymore. Problem solved.

On a premium that big, the company isn't going to give it all to him upfront for that very reason
To the OP: If the guy has called you that many times, he is very new and very desperate. Not the type of agent I would want to work with anyways. Can always get a free lunch out of it though

True, but I know I'm not buying. Hate to waste his time.

Then just call him back or answer the next time he calls and tell him that. He'll be persistent, but just tell him you aren't interested.

frick him
that little bitch is trying to get your money
let him take you to lunch, get the steak and lobster, get shite faced drunk, all on his dime, and tell him to frick off
everybody will want you money, learn how to take a stand now, it'll make things easier later down the road when the sales people get blonder and have larger breasts

It's not rude to speak plain to him. Just tell him you are not interested and not to call back regarding insurance.

Does your sexual orientation affect the rates that much?
