To further answer this thread, every LSU QB to start a season has had a stint with an NFL team if not drafted.

Davey - Patriots
Russell - Raiders
Flynn - Packers, Seahawks, Bills, Packers
Lee - Chargers
Jefferson - Buccaneers
Mettenberger - Titans

But my guess is that if Patterson didn't already know this, he was made aware some time ago.

Patterson isn't worried about franks being at LSU I can promise you. Kid works harder than any high school QB I've ever seen. There is no off days for him....if he's not at a camp or something on weekends then he's throwing with his brother. One thing I've seen with Patterson is nobody will outwork him...people/scouts always talk about his mechanics, footwork, release, etc it's because he's constantly working on them. Anyone who watches Patterson play in person can tell you there aren't many things wrong with his game....best part is he isn't done growing. All LSU has to do is keep his brother on staff and I believe they will get Patterson. His family is here, his friends are here, and brother might still be on LSU staff....i think he is LSUs to lose.

Everything olddawg said is spot on you have to watch the kid in person. Mechanics like I've never seen at that level. Also you better believe he knows who the great receivers are in this state and he sees them all going to lsu. As long as Sean is on staff and cam is OC we would really have to try hard to frick this up. And on top of all that were talking about NFLU who wouldn't wanna go there!?

I really hope we can keep his brother here and pull in two of the best QBs in the same class. We'd be set for years at the position.

If anyone is subscribed to Scout.com they just wrote a big article on Shea talking about how he could be the best QB out of high school in the last decade.

You tell him Jennings will be no threat and Harris is going pro after his junior season.

Boom, done.

We have the only coach in the country who was the head coach for some time @ both Ole Miss and USC. Let him do the talking.

Complex system my arse

Are you serious? What Jennings is running is nothing compared to what Mett ran last year. Also it was said countless times that Crowton ran a complex scheme with several formations just for one-two plays.

So far his other favorites are USC and Ole Miss. I think he would be great in both of those systems and would pass a lot more.

At USC he will be competing against many high level QBs. Max Browne, Ricky Town, and Sam Darnold are top level QBs, and all will be ahead of him in experience.

At Ole Miss, he won't have much of a competition, but if he wants to win a championship while playing with top notch talent, that's going to be near impossible. Ole Miss' window is almost closed as they will lose a shite load of top talent next year.

With LSU, he is near family (beats USC) and is loaded at every position and will be even more after 2016 (beats Ole Miss). We are pretty much a QB away from a national championship and that beats a hell of a lot of other teams.

Off Topic -
IMO, Harris wins the job and starts two and possibly even three years. Patterson is polished enough to play as a true freshman (albeit he would have plenty mistakes like all true freshman QBs do). If he doesn't want to come here, I believe Franks is more than capable after a redshirt year.

Franks is similar to Winston and Patterson is similar to Murray. I'd take either, but would rather have both.

I've never understood why it has always been so difficult for LSU to constantly have to work so hard to find a half decent QB.

because we always have to go out of state for them. And that is always a tough sell.

Not to mention the fact that we don't play in a n offense were he will throw the ball 500 times a seasons.

Throwing the ball 500 times doesn't get you a starting position in the NFL ask Manzel.... Now look at Tenn. and ask Mett what it's like throwing to great athletes at LSU & making tons of money as a starter in the NFL. Point is LSU and Cam will get him a possible championship while In college and give you a real team to work with for years, and get you ready for the next level, to start at the next level. LSU is easily his best option and it's not even close IMO. GT

How many 18 year olds do you know that prefer delayed gratification?

Speedy Noil comes to mind. Decided to go to the program where he can put up #s in college rather than the one with an NFL pedigree.

We basically buy the brother off and make him QB Coach.

How's that sound?

If the competition scares him away then he isn't a true competitor. Franks might be playing baseball anyway. Personally I hope LSU pursues the kid from Teurlings.
