He was the 46th ranked prospect coming out of high school. The NBA draft is only 2 rounds, and there are college players coming out too.

He was also a 6 foot 9 center. Simmons is a 6 foot 8 SF who can also play like guard.

It isn't close to the same thing

Honestly, a lot of the guys he plays against in tournaments are 5* talent. So he has more than weathered a storm.

The league's owners hosted NCAA president Mark Emmert to discuss the issue as part of their annual two-day spring meeting this week. Any changes wouldn't be in place by next season because the league is waiting for the players' association to name an executive director before formally starting negotiations. But it's clear there's a growing momentum to force this occasionally divisive issue through soon, possibly in time for the 2016 draft.

Might be the best player out of high school...ever

He is poised and smooth with a BB IQ like no other. For 6'9 to be able to dribble, pass, shoot, etc... is unheard of and I think he is way better than Magic, Lebron, and Koby coming out of high school

oauron You know, that's something I'm aware of, but watching him play against other 5 stars it just doesn't look like they are rated as high as he is. He just dominates to a point it looks like those 5 stars are 3 star players. But yea, he plays against competition that is as good as high school gets. Man, I really hope either Martin or Mickey return for next year.

Durant, Anthony davis, dwight howard, julius randle, and jabari parker,&andrew wiggins are all just as good if not better than Simmons.
Davis, durant, wiggins, and Howard were for sure better. Stop being biased

Maybe I missed durant, howard and parker in your original post but it appears I didn't. Davis was still growing into his body going into college and finally got to where he knows how to use it in the nba

Anthony Davos was 6'10 coming out of school and had a higher scout grade than Simmons. All those players i said was for sure better, have a higher scout grade than Simmons. Simmons is great but the only people on the planet saying he is the best high school recruit since Lebron, is lsu fans.

You can't possibly say any of them are "for sure better"

Then you shouldn't have a problem linking it.

Roll your eyes all you want. Those players have a higher SCOUT GRADE. People that are paid to rank these players agree with me.

As a high scool player? I don't follow it that much, but I was under the impression that Davis was one of those who grew into his body late and really started garnering a lot of attention during his freshman year at Kentucky.

No, he was the #1 recruit by most services. He did grow late, but it was in high school.

Not True At All... maybe it's all you're reading but it isn't close to true. Sure, not many are coming out publicly and saying it because they don't want it to come back and bite them. Some scouts are trying to rank Ben #2 behind someone (anyone really) because they want to be right on the conservative size. That being said, here is two Jeff Borzello tweets for fun:

Jeff Borzello @jeffborzello · Jan 19
Stephen Zimmerman struggling in the first half for Bishop Gorman. Held to two points, with four turnovers. Simmons tough on him one-on-one.

Jeff Borzello @jeffborzello · Jan 19
I don't see the debate when it comes to No. 1 -- think it's clearly Ben Simmons. Finished with 36 points today and is an excellent passer.

Again, those guys people are listing as great players (and they are/were) have not dominated the high level HS/Circuit ranks the way he has. That MVA team this year is not close to as good as the past couple years. Doral/JC aren't great HS guys and they lack any real elite guards/wings yet are favored in every game... because of him.

Just looking back at 247 rankings, there are only 4 players rated higher than Simmons during their High School careerssince 2003 LeBron, Oden, Howard and Wiggins were only ones rated 1.000. Simmons was tied with a bunch of other no. 1 recruits at .9999. Simmons was rated higher than Parker and Durrant btw.

I'm not saying he's better than any of those but scouts seem to rate him in same breath as the list you stated.
