I've watched multiple highlight tapes of Simmons, and I'll echo what others have said: He's the best I've seen coming out of high school in a long time.

Anthony Davis.

As a high scool player? I don't follow it that much, but I was under the impression that Davis was one of those who grew into his body late and really started garnering a lot of attention during his freshman year at Kentucky.

Kyrie, Rose, Durant, Paul, Eric, and Anthony weren't even the No.1 players in their respective classes. You're fricking dumb.

Well I wasn't going off of website rankings... I guess I'm fricking dumb, but I'll forgive myself for being a fricking idiot.. Here's your Rivals.com rankings

So Durant was 2 behind Oden (best since Lebron)
Gordon and Rose were 2 and 3 behind Beasley (Forgot to mention him)
Davis was 2 behind Rivers (We all knew AD was the best in the country before he stepped on the court at UK)
Kyrie was 4th, but also was underrated.
I missed on Paul, only the 11th best.

I'm just saying this is a weak class and Simmons wouldn't be #1 in many other classes, he needs to grow a couple more inches.

5 other guys I could name off

Durant, Howard, Rose, Oden, Paul, Maker, Wiggins, Kyrie, Eric Gordon, Anthony Davis.
I agree with Durant, Oden and Howard, but the other names were not ben simmons coming out of high school. Wiggins and Davis MAYBE. But Kyrie, Paul, and Eric Gordon would be behind Ben without a doubt if they were all seniors in highschool at the same time.

Saw quite a few of those in HS... not buying they were more dominant to the level Simmons has been. Just isn't the case. Simmons is dominating the best teams and players in the country. Something most of these guys struggled with. His off nights are 25-9 type of nights. Again, not talking College/Pro... Benny is as dominant in HS as I've ever seen. Asked an older guy who knows the game. Said only two he can recall being more dominant in HS were Lebron and Randy Livingston.

guess we'll see next year.

guys like Durant & Beasley averaged 25ppg as a college freshman

Im not saying he has to reach that ppg to have the same impact, but that is a high standard to equal.

Good enough to only enjoy him for one year...... maybe. But people said the same about JOB111 so who knows. If he continues to get stronger he could be scary good. Everything is based on potential and that sucks because we have to watch his growing pains as he will struggle some.

I am about as hard of a critic of athletes, especially highly ranked basketball players, that you will find. I am not always right but I don't speak kindly or highly about many. I was down on the entire 2014 draft class you see as rookies in the NBA right now bar one or two. I've never been wowed by a player at any level either. No star struck mentality long term wise (maybe from a single play or something).

All that being said, I'll eat as much crow that exists when it comes to Ben Simmons. I've yelled at national guys to prove it and agreed with others. He is as good as it gets at this level. He will be a NBA All-Star (not just because of the Aussie votes, like Yao/TMac got from China at times) and likely a NBA Superstar for the next decade. I am sure of it.

JOB was a 4 star recruit coming in, not the best player in the country who was on the extended roster for Australia's FIBA team. Not even remotely close to a good comparison.

Its more than just him that we get. We already landed his Summer teammate Blakeney, who could also be an NBA talent. There are more to come also thanks to David Patrick

I'd like to know this as well. He is in FL, so what is the connection? He must love him some Tigers.

You gotta compare them all coming out of high school. Now obviously you can go and revise the rankings but purely based on their high school/AAU/overall skill, I think Ben is a better prospect when you look at his entire body of work. He's dominated everything whether it be high school, national tournaments, skill academies, or AAU. This level of dominance is almost unheard of. Not even LeBron's St.Vincents/St.Marys teams were as good as Ben's Montverde teams have been.

LSU assistant David Patrick is his Godfather. Another fun fact, Ben's brother Liam is an assistant coach at Nichols.

IMO he will be the best all-around player LSU has had since John Williams. Except Ben is a better scorer than hot-plate was. Still, it's difficult to say until he suits-up and plays against a higher level of competition. He really plays a step ahead of everyone else mentally. The kind of basketball IQ Magic and Bird played with. His anticipation and reaction are way above the high school level.
