Looking for a recommendation on 2 good tent sites, preferably next to each other at Indian Creek. Not primitive sites. We need access to water and electricity. Got a 2yr okd and 2 4 yr olds.
TIA
TIA

In the past I've rented an RV spot and set up a tent on it. You have access to water and electricity with those.
ETA: Didn't do this at Indian Creek. Done this at Palmetto and Chicot.

There really aren't any tent sites. You can tent camp on the rv sites.

Thanks. On another site someone posted they werent allowed to tent on rv sites. How did you stake down your tent? Can you recommend a few sites that would be good for tents? Never been to Indian Creek. And we are trying to plan a trip for 2 families with tents.
Thanks.
Thanks.

How packed is that place on weekends this time of year? With the "no reservations " policy, I don't want to drive all the way from BR to just be turned around. I guess if they're full we could hit Chicot

If your tent is a stand alone tent, you don't necessarily need to stake it down unless you are expecting rough weather. Most RV sites have tent "pads" which are basically just a boxed in area filled with sand or dirt. Are y'all set on Indian Creek? I'd recommend Chicot State Park.

It was pretty open today. Lots of spots, and tons of open primitive camping spots.
Fish didn't bite tho

I've seen lots of tent camping there. You can't reserve a site, so you are just going to have to drive through the park and pick something.

Chicot is great. There's some strange goings on at the primitive sites though. Seen/heard some crazy stuff. What kind of tent are yall using? Going with air mattresses? I just got a therma rest neoair, worst nights sleep I've ever had in the woods. Do not recommend.

We want to go in the next few wks. Do you think we will have any problem getting 2 sites together showing up on a Friday? If I get there earlier can I get 2 spots till he shows up?

Yes chicot is great. I have a coleman 8 man dome tent. We use air mattresses and/or cots. Plenty room for me, wife and 4yr old daughter. What kind of stuff you talking about at primitive sites?

Can't go wrong with a Coleman. Just strange lights and noises. One weekend, me and a few buddies paddled into the wrong site and were awoken the next morning by a young family that had hiked in. We paddled to our correct site and set up for the night. Now I have to say that we were drinking, but after the fire went out and the beer was gone we stumbled to our tents at about 1 AM. At about 3 AM, we were all woken up to this extremely bright blueish colored light over the lake where we were camped, emitting this LOUD noise that sounded almost like an impact drill. It just hovered there and then faded away. We camped across the lake from our first site and saw the family that morning when we left on our way out and when I asked them if they heard/saw anything, they turned white as a ghost and just got in their car. They were black.
I've heard reports of other lights there as well and even had a ranger call me on another trip to ask if I was setting off flares because other hikers had been calling complaining about strange lights.
