Thinking about the roster

using the extremely small sample size of Qpon being a real NBA rotation player, I really like the roster now
Jrue/tyreke
Gordon
Cunningham/Qpon
AD/Anderson
Asik/Whithey
That's a 9 man rotation with 8 NBA guys at least (Whithey just needs the minutes to prove it). Regardless of how you feel about Dell, he's done a hell of a job shoring up the wings for us mid season.
Now I personally think we let Cunningham go after the season and sign a real backup point guard with the BAE and sign a MLE small forward

Yeah, small sample size but QPon makes Cunningham expendable since he presumably will get more than the minimum and you'll pick up someone like DeMarre Carroll with the MLE.

Another scenario:
What if ryno gets moved? Dante could be a pretty competent back up PF that doesn't cost much.
EG has been really good from 3(which would soften the blow) and dante is obviously better defensively at the PF spot than ryno. He has has a good midrange game.

EG in the 5 games since he has come back:
24/51 fg (47.05%)
11/24 3pt(45.83%)
7/8 ft (87.5%)
2.8 RPG
4.0 APG
2.8 TOV
0.8 SPG
0.4 BPG
13.2PPG
If he stays healthy the rest of the year, plays at that level he's currently at, would any of you oppose signing him to an extension (Not anything 10mil+/yr annually of course)

Roster looks more solid than it did before. Once again, too little too late. And it's mostly Monty's fault

Id argue this
Jrue/Jimmer
EG/Reke
Cunningham/QPon
AD/Ryno
Asik/Ajinca
with Reke technically playing the point but guarding the 2nd teams SG
and I think Cunningham and QPon are interchangable
you can even add a little Withey and Wolters bc I think he will get signed longer than 10 days and you have a roster where everyone can contribute in some way

Hell yeah we should bring him back if he stays healthy and keeps playing like this. No brainer. Get him in the $6-8 million range and he'd go from being an albatross to an absolute steal.

It would be nice to get Gordon to renegotiate and get on like a 4 year/$40 million deal starting next season. It probably won't happen though.

Yes, if you can get him in the 5-8 mil per range you have to take him. All the bullshite aside, when he's healthy he's one of the better 2 guards in the league...and he passes to AD.

If it's like a 3/21Mil deal then i'd definitely consider.
He's playing really solid on both sides
Sidenote: I'm just happy to have 2 SFs worth a damn
We went from Babbitt/salmons/Miller to Q-Pon/dante.

While it was demps' fault we were in that position, you have to admit what he pulled off to sure up the position is pretty impressive.

best part of it all. he's looking to pass, especially to AD, which is something he hasn't done in the past.

Yep
Only losing AR+Russ which actually is addition by subtraction(AR especially). Also get a 2nd round pick to use as an asset(albeit not a great one)
Maybe wolters will amount to being a solid back up PG,We'll see what happens.

From what i can tell, wolters seems like an upgrade over rivers on the offensive side. thats not saying much though.

Gordon is made of glass. No way he gives up the 15 next year.

You think Cunningham prices himself out of the bi-annual exception? Or is there a rule about using both the MLE and the BAE in the same year?

I'd like to hear the answer to this as well. I was really hoping to keep cunningham around as an energy bench guy.

I'd be against it, not because I think he's a bad player, but because I'd rather use his salary for a more competent SF.

I believe you can use the regular MLE and the BAE in the same season, but not the room MLE or tax payer MLE. I read that somewhere a while back.

No, but under the OP's scenario we use the BiAnnual on a backup PG. I can sort of see this happening, but honestly the quality of PG you get for $2 million is about the same as what you get for the minimum. You need at least $3 million to get a decent backup PG.
