Whats the deal with the Eagles?

I always hear and see people ripping on them, like they are posers (is that still a term?) or like a 70s boy band....
I really like their music, just was wondering why people seem to dislike them... thoughts?

ive never heard anyone rip the eagles. they are an icon american band with great musicians, singers, and lyricists.

They tried to sue Frank Ocean. That's about all I know and it seemed like a power move by them to go after a guy who got popular for sampling 'Hotel California' and made no money from it.

When that movie hit cult status, that's when it became cool to hate them. Before, you were either indifferent with them or a fan. It definitely wasn't a cool thing to hate on them.
That said, I was never really a fan but didn't hate them.

Their music is kind of cheesy, I could see why some people don't like them. I don't dislike them but have no interest in listening to them either.

A lot of it is because of The Big Lebowski. Some of it is their music is played so much on classic rock station, there's just burn out.
I really like their Hotel California album, title track notwithstanding. It's a fabulous album, and the less popular tracks(Wasted Time, Pretty Maids All In a Row, The Last Resort, Try and Love Again) are a lot better than the popular songs. The rest of their catalog is just boring to me, save for a few songs.

Eagles hate has been around for a long time... Robert Christgau has been a long time hater... since back in the 70s..

2) She did some great stuff before becoming a superstar ("Long Long Time") and after (her standards albums), but her work while she actually was a superstar was meh at best. I hated the song "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" until I heard Warren Zevon's original, because her cover was so bad -- a rock and roll singer she ain't.

95% of their music is the definition of Lite.....not unlike 95% of Indie Rock bands of today......so I see your point....although I like neither.
