When Steele served as Alabama's director of player development in 2013, he hauled in the number one recruiting class - a good recruiter is a positive for LSU.

He's got two years experience under Nick Saban.

Alabama had a great linebacking corps this year.

It is a solid hire.

He coached under elite coaches Tom Osborne, Nick Saban, and Bobby Bowden. He played and coached at Tennessee under Johnny Majors.

So you're saying that the next Head Coach will have a ton of talent to work with?

He has nothing to do with Alabama's haul of recruiting.

Nick Saban is a house hold name that sells the program, period.
Alabama will bring in many more #1 classes as long as he is there

that game was two years ago ...

Are you suggesting that Saban hired the wrong man?

He coached at Alabama with Saban for 5 years not 2. He is a good recruiter, but his last year as DC at Clemson was awful.

I bet he's the primary reason Bama recruited well... Said no one.

If you are right you should become a clairvoyant because there is no objective evidence to be excited about this.

Steele is not the reason recruits went to Alabama. So just stop thinking that. They went because they wanted to win a NC and because of Saban.

Holy shite, did you just give him credit for Bama's recruiting?

He's been fired from every DC position he has held, and he fielded some of the worst defenses in the country at Clemson.

Stop trying to spin this hire. We lost one of the top DCs in the country to a divisional rival, and then decided to hire a guy that has never been able to keep his job as a defensive coordinator.

This is an embarrassing hire for this program.

No, but I think it is wrong to suggest that he did not play a part.

Most LSU fans consider Saban a genius, and Saban hired this guy (presumably for good reason).

I think everyone is overreacting - it is a solid hire.

LSU's problem isn't recruiting, and it's nick Saban that recruits for Bama anyway.
