Most LSU fans consider Saban a genius, and Saban hired this guy (presumably for good reason).

Saban demoted Steele from the defensive coordinator position. Clemson then fired Steele as their defense cooridnator four years later.

This hire is indefensibly pathetic.

Both are ancient history. I predicted Ohio State's NC at the beginning of the year. While this may seem like a troublesome hire, it will work out fine.

He was fired in '12. That isn't ancient history...

You're fricking stupid. Saban isn't some elixir that can be distributed that automatically makes you smarter. That recruiting class had nothing to do with Steele, and if you think it did you're an idiot.

Two years ago is ancient history?

LSU's relevance as a dominant football program must be ancient history as well. If it isn't, it will be shortly.

#LSU

Food for thought.

Kiffen fired in 2013 and LSU fans love him.

Steele in 2012.

No consistency. The negatigers all want to be pissed off, obviously.

Posted by SouljaBreauxTellEm He has nothing to do with Alabama's haul of recruiting. Nick Saban is a house hold name that sells the program, period. Alabama will bring in many more #1 classes as long as he is there

Exactly. LSU has hauled in Top 5 recruiting classes, 3 years removed from playing in the National Title. But instead of getting a current successful DC we go after a positions coach from Bama?

Could be good in the end, but right now, yes, it looks like shite.

True, Steele was not a productive recruiter at Clemson. Clemson site is laughing their butts off on this hire, so I sure hope it turns out good

Apparently, Les Miles thought Steele would work well with him. This is clearly an important factor to consider.

Who you might think was the "best man" might be a bad fit.

Again, Saban apparently saw some talent in Steele, while most of the ranters act like LSU hired me.

I think once this hysteria dies down, you'll find that this is a solid hire.

This hire sucks, but don't forget Chavis' great performances against MSU and Auburn.
Steele 595 yds given up to UWV
Chavis 570 and 566 yds to MSU and Auburn.

I'll bet my next paycheck that when we have a great defense next year all of these trolls will be saying how they knew how great he was..

I love how everyone refers to the W.V - Clemson game.

Skip Bertman once lost a baseball game to Alabama 28-2. Did this make him a no talent, or worthy of scorn? Or a bad coach? Of course not.

The question should be why did it take two weeks to hire this guy?

I don't think that question is relevant at all.

I think it's cool that a team from the West stole one of the statically best DC's from us and we are such a power house program that we were able to take weeks and pick up such a great hire in a failed DC who is currently in a lesser role at a program I could coach at and be successful. The only thing I have coached is my 5 year old sons flag football team. Decline.
