oregons offense is all smoke and mirrors. I'm not sure if I'd take Mariota over Manziel.

Of course he's a much more humble guy.

What's your take ?

Mariota's skill wasn't based on scrambling and creating plays with his feet. He can go there when he needs to, but in general he will look to pass than run. Sometimes Manziel would just run to run.

Mariota seems like a Russell Wilson type QB
Manziel is one of many dual threat QBs who's talent doesn't transfer at all to the NFL.

he's matured since the offseasons started, he hasn't even rode any pool inflatables yet.

I respect your opinion but I think JFF has a legit chance to become a damn good NFL QB. that is, IF he modifys his ego and starts to actually learn the position. this is his first year in the NFL for gods sake. give the kid a chance.

I would take Mariota if I had to choose. He seems to be a high character guy. However, neither will make an impact in the NFL.

Just based on arm strength alone, Mariota rips JFF a new one.

Better pro prospect: Mariota by a mile.

I think Mariota at least cares about being good. That alone gives him an edge over Manziel.

he just doesn't posess the necessary NFL skillset. Big? Nope. Big arm? Nope. Fast? Nope. Pro style experience? Nope. Maturity? Nope. Dedication to the craft? Nope. Leadership skills? Meh.

I just don't know what he's bringing to the table that makes him special. He's just another college Dynamo who's game was better suited for Saturdays.

Mariota seems like the type of guy that would put the time and effort into trying hard even if he was failing.

That is something that Manziel doesn't do and ultimately why people would take Mariota over him.

this is the exact situation the Titans were in a couple years ago. After years with Vince young, who they felt didn't spend enough time on football, they vowed to get a super high football character guy for their next QB. So they draft football junkie jake locker. But he sucked and it didn't work out and they're in the same spot as before-- needing a QB.

Bottom line is, dedication to craft is important, but if he can't play, that won't matter. Tebow cared as much as anyone and worked his arse off. But he never had NFL skills so he never had a chance.
