If Echo still offers the 5 year warranty, that might be the best bet. I have a Stihl backpack blower that works like a champ.

Agree. At least on the first part. Have one that's 20+ yo and never had an issue. No clue on new ones. I buy Stihl everything though.

I have a Craftsman backpack, works well, have to run it about half choke. Uncle has a echo I think, and his has to do the same. I only run eth free in mine, no clue about his though. Both going on 3 years.

Go to Paige Lawnmower on Hwy. 59 and check out the hand held Redmax blower they have. Mine is six years old and ran great until this summer. Bought a carb overhaul kit and it is back to running and starting great. I think the kit was eight bucks. Like others said try and run non-E fuel.

I bought a Hitachi for my mom's house and it is better than my echo I bought at the same time for my house. It start on the 2nd or 3rd pull every time. The echo seems to take forever to warm up. So I suggest Hitachi.
Agreed. Prime the bulb 10 times and it cranks on the first and second pull every time for 2 years

You MUST use ethanol free. Look into Shindaiwa.

buy echo Stihl will not stand behind the warranty
I have had two warranty issues and both times they denied it-
Stihl absolutely stands by their warranties...but they won't pay for obvious user error or abuse.
About half of our "won't start" issues are related to fuel mixture ratios. 50:1 is not the same as "half and half."

Again...completely false. Virginia Beach is not in China.

Bump:
Just picked up a Husqvarna BT130 backpack blower from Lowes on clearance for $199. Popular Mechanics rated it as one of the best a few years back.

Looking at a husqvarna. Anyone having any experience with their blowers?
I have had one for the past 5 or so years and it has been great. It is a two stroke.
