Guitar guru's.....What model Gibson guitar is Dave Grohl playing in Sonic Highways New Orleans episode. He was playing it on the Sound City documentary too.

Looks like just an old jumbo dreadnought?

Looking at it closer it does appear to have the body shape of a J30. Hard to tell exactly what it is, pic isn't very good.

It absolutely is not one of those.

It's in fact a "Country Western" Southern Jumbo.

Like This

Notice the pickguard.

Yeah that looks more like it Dnm3305

The bridge saddle is plain not like the SJ200s pictured/mentioned earlier with the "handlebar mustache look".

I do have a pic I took off my tv but I'd have to upload to the web to post it. Thanks for all the replies. I just like the simple look of this old vintage for some reason.

I bet. It is New Orleans and everybody there is probably kissing his arse. Letting him borrow.

Who beside Gibson and Martin made holy grail worthy pre-war guitars? Or are they about it?

Correct. Notice it has square shoulders, similar to a Hummingbird. I have a Sheryl Crow model, which is based on one of these.

His standard acoustic is the Gibson Elvis Presley Dove. Obviously, this isn't that.

Pickguard doesn't look like a hummingbird. No idea

That would be my guess as well. It's hard to tell without having a better picture.
