Could you earn greater than 8% ($2,000) of that total in a 6 month period?

Could you do so with nearly zero risk of loss?

Me personally, no. You could if you was savvy enough. BUT, you absolutely could not do it with

If you consider unconventional investments like, say, tickets, then yes. Easily.

If anyone could do this, they would be making billions at a hedge fund.

Great advice from Abe. Been doing it for a little over 7 years and honestly, it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Not that scalable but the small amounts that the OP is describing in terms of principle and return, yes, are easily attainable in a month, much less 6 months.

Vand your pathway involves the actual accusation and resale of tangible items? Is there more work involved other than simply handing 25,000 over and then recollecting 27000 6 months later?

If someone told me they could do this I'd run as fast as I could away

Acquiring and selling items electronically. It does require more work but can all be done without leaving a computer. And the returns are much greater.

You are an absolute idiot if you think you can generate 8% in 6 months with little to no risk.

Yes. I have made 13% today in the Money Talk Simulation.

Ha! You are looking for a 16% annual return. That's a good return in the stock market, but pretty risky.

Buy FRED. I believe it will make 10% in 3 months and there is just standard stock risk involved.

For conventional investments, yes, I would be an idiot to think that. Ticket reselling is clearly a non-conventional investment.

ETA: Think of it as day trading but with tickets.

If you could don't you think everyone would be doing it?

It does seem if you can get any big ticket at face value you will do fine on the secondary market.

Key is getting in on those openings of course.

There is a reason the 10 year treasury is what it is...

Yup. Every day in this country there are a finite number of sold out shows or profitable tickets. Getting a hold of just a handful or two of those a week makes for a nice month.

That's an interesting strategy, arbitrage does exist in some rare cases but it's usually short lived once everyone else figures it out.

I listened to a nice podcast recently of a guy doing it with educational books. All the way from elementary books to nursing school books. He was making a pretty good living for the time being but people were beginnjng jumping on that boat pretty fast as well.

80 consecutive profitable months and counting, just focusing on the simple economic principles of scarcity and imperfect information.

Out of curiosity and if you don't mind, how do you get these big tickets before everyone else? Wait online and be the first to purchase? Is it luck? Do you wake up at 3AM for festivals ticket releases like Tonmorow World? Just curious how you acquire the tickets, because I agree that some tickets are no brainers if you can buy them at face value.
