Ugh, I hate the "10 win" argument

They play 2+ more games now than they did "back in the day"

No shite, the point is odd years are more productive as 2009 is the only one we fell short in. I'm not comparing it to the history books, but I think this is a large enough sample size to indicate that the schedule sets up better in odd years. We've competed for the natty in '03, 07, and 11.

You're right, 10-3. I thought we fell short with the bowl loss. Thanks, I'll edit it.

10/13 = 77% win percentage. This is an outdated and bogus standard of "excellence" in modern college football, especially when about 3 of the 10 are typically cupcake games. That means a team has about 7 decent wins out of 13 appearances.

4 games are a given so we go 6-3 afterwards and that's a great year?

Yeah, I mean excellent programs average 11 wins a year and there are about 2 or 3 of them in the nation. Looks like we have some catching up to do. I'm sorry LSU football has failed to meet your expectations again. Outside of pitiful bowl performances, LSU has been in elite status for much longer than ever before.

Am I to assume that you don't consider gaining 1,000 yards either running or receiving impressive either?

And that all games back in the day were tough because all teams were great?

Why are you all talking like these were all exactly 10 win seasons? Most of those years were more, some 3 games more.

Still the Golden Age of LSU Football, folks. 8-5 and 9-4 seasons don't meet our standards, but they happen.

We're currently Saban/Bama's little brother. That's what chaps the most arse IMO.

Yea it seems like the older population is fine with 8 wins a year. They must remember Joe Dean's speech about that being a great year if we win 8 games Since then we have won 2 national titles and they bar has been raised. Constant top recruiting classes and 8-5 to show for it is unacceptable by today's standards. If our recruiting classes had limited talent then I would say 8-5 would be a good year.

I had to double check 2001. I thought for sure we got 11 wins. 10-3 with an sec championship AND sugar bowl win. Damn, how this conference has changed.
