I know someone who said she can tell a difference if she doesn't take her multi-vitamin after breakfast. Is anybody else like that? I take them but I honestly can't tell a difference if I forget to take them. I still take them though.

what I take
Fish Oil (2 a day)
Apple Cider Vinegar (2 a day, pill form)
Men's Multivitamin (1 daily)
Milk Thistle (2 twice daily)

Can anyone suggest another I might want to add?

I don't do a multi-vitamin, I just take Vitamin D (especially during the winter) and eat healthy. Also take Fish Oil.

Multivitamin pills don't do anything- pure placebo effect. The concentration of vitamins in pills like that are too great for the body to absorb anything significant- you're just buying green-pee-pills.

IDK about things like fish oil pills and vinegar pills, I'd imagine those are more effective though.

I take a GNC men's multivitamin every morning.. Does it actually help? I really don't know. Do I "notice" if haven't. Definitely not, other than the thought of doing something adverse to the habit I created. I feel like I've read and heard enough conflicting material to know I don't really know jack about it all.

Is this for sure true? Can you prove with a credible link or anything that this is true?

Be careful taking too many vitamins.

They can cause kidney stones to build up in your system.

One of the worst kind of pain I ever went through.

Every doctor I've ever spoken to.

Thousands of news articles on the web.

Multivitamins are, at best, a waste of money, Johns Hopkins doctors say

I saw some pretty convincing literature recently on how multi-vitamins are legitimately not a good thing for us as daily meds. Let me try to go find that link.

I do feel like the whole omega fatty acid things are solid.

Most of the vitamins in multivitamin are in forms we cannot utilize. Enjoy your expensive piss.

I've seen a study that suggested that fish oil didn't do much either. Saw it on the American Heart Association's website a couple years ago.

Oh, and most of the fish oil supplements are crap. When I was taking it I did research and felt that Nordic Naturals liquid was the best over the counter.

I wish we could get a 100% yes or no answer. I take vitamins every day but have no idea if I am just pissing them away.

In med school, talking vitamins and such, someone asks the professor if he takes vitamins. Professors says yes. Guy asks, "well then, you must believe in them". Professor says not at all, it just makes your pee expensive. Guy asks why he takes them. Professor says, my wife buys them, so I do it to for peaceful tranquility.

Basically, for all but the A, D, E, and K vitamins, your body is going to pee out what it doesn't need. Many of the ingredients are way above what we need for daily intake. For the fat-soluble vitamins (A/D/E/K), your body will absorb all or most of them. They are stored in fat. It's not a big problem usually, but you can get too much of these. For instance, too much Vitamin A will cause eye sight problems, liver toxicity, dry skin, mouth sores, and increased brain pressure. Vitamin D will cause you to have too much calcium, which will lead to kidney stones, constipation, abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting, and psychoses.

Vitamin D/E/K overdoses are rare and require mega-doses, but it can happen.
