My amateur thoughts on the remaining targets for the '15 class

First off..check out the new TD Recruiting Tracker
I have no inside sources. This is all speculation and who I think we have a realistic shot at, and recruits that LSU could potentially get into the mix with.
01. Kyle Phillips - Phillips announces tomorrow at the Army All American Game. LSU was thought to have been a clear favorite, especially after Ugo Amadi committed. With Chavis heading to Texas A&M, things become a little more foggy. Phillips states that Brick Haley staying on staff will be a huge thing for him in regards to attending LSU, but that could be for the suspense. I would guess Tennessee.
02. Daylon Charlot - After tons of speculation, Daylon cleared things up and has stated that he is indeed no longer committed to Alabama. This will be a race to follow, as he will announce on National Signing day. One thing to look at here..Alabama is likely picking up a WR commit tomorrow Lawrence Cager..could this be a replacement plan for the Tide?
03. Derrick Dillon - Dillon remains committed to the Gators for the time being, but many believe he is looking really hard into LSU and reconsidering his pledge. What changed? Dillon was offered as a DB early in the recruiting process. Dillon is set on playing WR at the next level and a recent offer on the offensive side is a definite game changer.
04. Donte Jackson - Jackson is the top remaining target on the LSU board and will announce on January 21st. Jackson's top 3 are LSU, Georgia and USCw but it's clear that LSU and Georgia are the ones in contention for the elite CB. Jackson visits Georgia on the 16th and then LSU on the 23rd.
05. Justin Reid - Surprisingly Reid's recruitment has been really quiet after receiving and offer from LSU. Eric Reid's younger brother is considering LSU and Oklahoma. Oklahoma seems to be trending for his signature but a late press could get him into the class if the remaining defensive back targets don't go in the favor of the Tigers.
06. Jonathon Taylor - Appears to be an LSU/Alabama battle for the elite JUCO DT. Taylor is currently waiting on some of his legal troubles to clear. Alabama and LSU are both showing a lot of interests, but Alabama is the only one who has a offer on the table. LSU could be waiting for the final word on his legal issues.
07. Arden Key - Key states his opinion of LSU doesn't change with the loss of Chavis, but if Brick Haley follows him then LSU can consider Key a lost cause. South Carolina's class is currently falling apart and many of the recruits leaving are on the defensive side. Key has an official set up for LSU on Jan 16th.
08. Dylan Jackson
09. Lanard Fournette
10. Arthur McGinnis

Nice run down. Thanks.

I think we manage to land Charlot, Dillon, and Jackson. After that, I have no idea.
I don't think we get Phillips tomorrow, but unless he is an EE, I think we have a chance at him by NSD.
I don't think Taylor, Reid, Key, or McGinnis get in this class.

Curious about Foster Moreau, also. 247 hasn't added him to the commitment list.
With him included, that's 18 commits. I really can't find 7 to make the even 25..hell I can't even find 5 really.

Phillips is an EE, and I agree with you. I don't think we get him tomorrow. I think we get Dillon and the Jacksons though.

Yea. Well, that is an ongoing..situation?

Really just depends on how quickly the DC/Brick situation gets ironed out. If Brick moves on and we name a replacement within a few days, I think we can get the remaining spots. Weathersby has to be a priority, one more of the four star CBs may find their way on board.

Being honest.. I don't think LSU would have landed Mack had Chavis stayed.

Yeah Weathersby and Fields are ones to watch..definitely.

I'm sure hoping we can add some DT and DE as well as a true LT.
This class feels different, the way it has shaped up and as you mention, where will we fill in the remaining spots.

I don't like the way Bama continues to load up in the trenches with the big guys, and we, as usual, are very thin there. Are there any big DT's or OL's that we are on the trail of with mutual interest. Maybe some surprises there hopefully.

I know that we have quite a few DE's and DT's. Especially with the redshirts moving in to fill possible losses. It would be nice to pick up 1 DE and 1 DT before its over with just for some more depth. The fact we have so many DT's and DE's right now is a reason we are not screaming for DL guys.
Coach O said it best, #LSU DC is one of the most desireable positions in College football. Before its said and done we will have a great replacement.
Who wouldn't want the video game controller to the LSU D. It would be nice if Kwon stayed. We have several LB's waiting to take his spot. All love Kwon whatever you do!!!
I am very excited about next year. Not cocky but I think next year is special and we continue that run for a long time to come.

Thanks for the rundown, this is usually when I really start to pay attention to recruiting. I just hope we get as many of these guys as we can!

It's either us or Stanford imo
