LF - just 5 games with more than 15 carries

This is still one of the biggest question marks for me. LF is the definition of a workhorse and is the perfect RB for a Les Miles offense. He's a RB that you can lean on and gets better the more touches he gets. He wears down defenses and can score from all over the field. And considering we had 1 of the worst QBs and passing attacks in all of college football, you would think we would have leaned on him. But he only had 5 games with more than 15 carries...
According to ESPN, we had 621 rushing attempts and 276 pass attempts, so 897 total. LF had just 187 of the 621 rushing attempts. We ran the ball 69% of the time. LF only had 30% of the carries. He averaged just 14.4 carries per game.
In the 5 games where he had more than 15 rushing attempts, he had 108 carries for 600yards and 5 TDs. He averaged 21.6 carries for 120 yards (5.5ypc) and 1 TD in those 5 games. And 4 of the 5 games were against TAMU, Bama, Ole Miss, and UF. The only cupcake game was vs New Mexico St. He performed extremely well in those games and they were against SEC opponents for the most part. LF was the best player on the field vs UF, Ole Miss, and TAMU and was the key to our offense. And he was solid vs Alabama as well and battled all night without that much room to run.
Look at UGA with Chubb. They didn't have a great pass attack and they knew it. They also knew they had a stud in Chubb. So they leaned on him and fed him the rock. And won games because of it. Now I'm not saying I wanted LF to get 28+ touches per game or some crazy amount. But considering the passing attack and QB play we had, it just doesn't make sense that he averaged under 15carries per game.
And I'm not saying he should never come off the field or whatever. I love Magee and his role and thought DWill ran well and even Hilliard was decent. But you don't leave LF sitting on the sideline for 2+ series in a row after he's been gashing teams and just watch us go 3 and out. He's our best offensive skill position and weapon and is a perfect fit for the offense we run. Yet he had just 30% of the carries.
I dont get it. And the RB carousel hurt us more than it helped us this year. Sometimes we would go LF for a series, then Magee for a series, then DWill / Hilliard for a series. So you get a few plays and then sit for 2 series. No RB can get in a rhythm like that and I'm shocked none of them tweaked a hammy or strained a muscle due to the fact that they play a few plays, sit for 2+ series and get tight and cold, then go back out there again.
Yesterday was a perfect example of this. LF SHREDS Notre Dame... And gets 4 carries in the 2nd half and we end up losing the game and couldn't convert a 3rd and short to seal it.

Cam has no clue how to properly use a player like buga. Buga should be getting 20 plus touches a game and at least a few passes his way. 2013 was more about the players we already had in place than cam being some elite oc.

Les probably promised him that Les wouldn't overuse him in college. Trent Richardson was probably overused. It does make a difference for running backs.

During his recruitment one of the draws that Miles presented to him was that he would not overwork him... we've always been a multiple RB team and this year was no exception.
I'm actually kind of proud that Miles stood by his word in this regard... we weren't winning a NC this year anyway so no reason to run him into the ground for an extra W or 2.

This is a rediculous, perplexing stat that pisses me the frick off.

I think this will change in 2015. Why? Jeremy Hill's freshman year was much like LF. Then, Hill's sophomore year, he gets the majority of carries. Hill still shared and disappeared sometimes (because of Coach's decision, not Hill's lack of execution.)
Fournette will get more than just the majority of carries.
I wonder if LSU will make a serious attempt at a "Fournette for Heisman" campaign for 2015.

running him more than 15 times isn't over use.

I seriously doubt that was promised.

I don't believe that buga would be a bitch and say don't feed me the rock. Yes, running backs have shorter shelf life than most positions but he is in the AP freak category so i think the kid would be ok. Also if he didn't want to be over worked he wouldn't be returning kicks.
Cam and Les are the only ones that can truly stop Buga from getting a heisman. He needs more carries and we should run a more power spread offense to give him even bigger rushing lanes.
Cam is old and the game has passed him by unless he gets a true pocket passer like mett.

Les is saving tread on those legs
Fournette will thank him one day

I think was actually said by him following commitment.

I'm ok with with it. We had a stable of backs and used them. LF has 2 more years here, 3 if he stays. I'd rather them run him 15 times getting 100+ yards and multiple TDs for 3 years than run him into the ground for one year. Especially in a season like this one when your goals are out of reach early in the season.

Doesnt Frank Wilson determine this?
Also, on news tonight, LF was asked about only carrying it 11 times. He replied that it was a bowl game, the last game for the SR rbs and he wanted them to shine.
Maybe he made it up. Seems like a great humble guy.

Yea I get that you don't wanna over work him... I even said j don't wanna see him get 25+ touches like Chubb got.
But come on... Clearly our best offensive weapon and gets 14 carries a game, and only 5 games over 15 carries, and just 3 games with 20+ carries? 18 carries a game isn't overusing him. 25 carries a game is. 14 carries a game is underusing him.

There was talk among the informed and I posted it here. His dad wanted to leave a bunch of tread on his tires during his stay with us. It was part of he deal.

What? So, Miles gave up on the season before it started? Good thing Chizik didn't think that way in 2010.

Miles is a quitter but that is cool with the miles fans. its weird since he said he wasn't building for the future and that jennings was playing so we could win now.

If we could have drives with more than 3 plays run he would've had more carries
