Looking at buying this for my son and am curious to hear from people who use this thing.

Is it really all that?

What separates this from all the other Android tablets?

Nexus 9 is better. 64 bit K1, larger battery, higher resolution, launches with Lollipop, and $349.

Do you have a PC or laptop with an nvidia GPU? I think it has to be Kepler based, or possibly even Fermi.

If not, it's not better than any other tablet out there

Needs to be GTX 650 or higher, so no Fermis.

Hands-down the best tablet for gaming. Only one with a GeForce card in it. Supports photoshop and all that jazz.

Holy shite do some research before spewing nonsense. The k1 chip is in many other tablets.

It only supports streaming of photoshop, but that could have been changed. Its an android tablet at its core, so don't expect it to do much more than one.

Its a great tablet for the price. I have the nexus 9 and love it, but the shield is a much better deal. Most people say it is the best android tablet on the market.

I'm not sure how the shield beats the Nexus 9 except for streaming (and expandable storage). If you aren't getting it to stream games from your Kepler/Maxwell PC, seems like it's a a pretty standard tablet. K1, 2GB RAM, about the same pixel density, smaller battery, no 802.11ac. Granted, the N9 is another $100, so the Shield at least has decent value.

I just don't know if I need to give myself a means of gaming from bed...

And the Nexus 7 can be had for under $200, which is a far better value for someone that doesn't do all the streaming junk.

Incredible design and feel (although some may say its heavy), very fast, dual front speakers, good screen, much better price than N9. I got the N9 because I wanted a nexus device, but the shield does everything really well.
