I currently use hill star insurance which is dirt cheap but has horrible reviews, and am thinking of switching to a better known company. need some recommendations.

Thanks in advance

State Farm

I know I pay a bit more, but I have always been happy with them.

Amica and usaa are generally considered the best.

Anyone but Allstate, they were downright criminals rejecting claims during the April 2011 tornados

NOT Geico

1. They're slow to pay

2. You're helping support that horrible lizard commercial

Automobile insurance companies' strategies can vary from year to year, the concept of contracting coverage with one is analogous to becoming a partner with the company insuring you. Who would know better about particular insurers strategies than an insurance professional who deals with a wide range of insurance companies every day for a living?

No one.

tl/dr: See an independent insurance agent.

I always hear people say this but I had a horrible experience with them earlier this year. My wife got rear ended by a driver who had USAA so all the claims went through them. It was a nightmare trying to get them to pay for the totaled car. They made me return the rental before I got the money they owed me. I got shuffled around to multiple agents and got the runaround over and over again. I was definitely not impressed but maybe they treat their own customers better.
